Are they truly prepared for this new season?

Starting secondary school or high school is more than gaining admission into a prestigious school, buying items listed on the prospectus, celebrating a milestone or pursuing academic excellence.

It is a significant life transition filled with choices that can influence the direction of your child’s future.

The truth is, success in secondary school is not determined by intelligence alone. It is largely shaped by character, godly values, wisdom and the right mindset.

We have some exciting news!

As we continue to grow and expand our impact, our social media platforms will now operate under Values Refinery Academy instead of The Scent of Hope Foundation.

The Scent of Hope Foundation remains our parent organization, while Values Refinery Academy is the subsidiary dedicated to equipping boys and girls aged 6–17 years with godly values that transform how they think, speak, and act, enabling them to fulfill their God-given purpose.

This transition reflects our desire to communicate more clearly the work we do every day which is refining values, building character, and raising the next generation of godly leaders.
While our name is changing, our vision remains exactly the same.

We are still committed to preparing boys and girls for the future by empowering them with godly values and raising kings and queens with impeccable values who will positively influence their generation and glorify God.

Thank you for believing in our vision and being part of this incredible journey. Your prayers, encouragement and support have brought us this far and we are excited about all that lies ahead.

This evening, I went to the salon. While I was there, I noticed a beautiful young girl who had just finished braiding her ankle-length hair. With her extra-long nails she sat quietly watching skits on her phone.

The conversations around the salon quickly centred on the length of her hair, how risky it was and how careful she needed to be.

But my mind went in a different direction. I wasn’t thinking about the hair or the nails. I was thinking about identity.

Children and teenagers naturally want to belong. They are constantly exposed to trends, influencers and the pressure to fit in. The important question is What is shaping their choices?

When a child understands who they are in Christ and is grounded in godly values, their identity becomes the foundation for their decisions. Their dressing, speech, relationships, preferences and lifestyle become expressions of who they are not simply reflections of what is trending or the result of peer pressure.

This is why the years between ages 0 and 12 are so important. During these formative years, parents have a limited window to intentionally build identity and godly values. A strong foundation equips children to navigate them with wisdom and conviction.

This post is not about the length of braids, long nails or makeup.

It is about raising children intentionally.

Before we teach our children how to dress, let’s teach them who they are because children who know their identity are less likely to let the world define it for them.

The Word of God is the foundation of every godly value.

Tomorrow’s class is one you don’t want your child to miss.

I’ll be teaching, in simple and practical terms, the secret to helping children genuinely fall in love with reading and studying the Bible. Many children see Bible reading as a chore because they have not been taught how to build a personal relationship with Jesus. Once they know Him, His Word becomes something they desire not something they are forced to read.

This lesson has the potential to transform your child’s spiritual journey and lay a strong foundation for a lifetime of godly living.
