Not every inappropriate comment, touch, message, or advance should be dismissed as “just a joke.”

Sexual harassment can take many forms this including unwanted touching, sexual comments, unsolicited sexual messages, sexual requests, and repeated advances after someone has made it clear they are not interested.
Your discomfort matters. Your boundaries matter. And you have the right to say NO without feeling guilty or ashamed.

Through ProtectHer, we are helping girls build the knowledge and skills they need to navigate their world more safely.

Because every girl deserves to feel safe, confident, and empowered. **e

When someone chooses to tell you about an experience of sexual violence, how you respond matters.

They may already be carrying fear, confusion, shame, or uncertainty. What they need in that moment is not blame or interrogation, but a safe person who will listen and respond with care.

You don’t have to have all the answers. Start by:

💚 Listening without judgment.
💚 Believing them instead of questioning their experience.
💚 Reminding them that it was not their fault.
💚 Respecting their choices and decisions.
💚 Helping them find appropriate support when they are ready.

Sometimes, being there and listening is the first step toward helping someone feel less alone.

Let’s create communities where survivors are met with compassion, dignity, and support, not blame.

Young women and girls may grow up in different homes, communities, schools, and circumstances, but many share the same aspirations: to learn, to grow, to be heard, to pursue their dreams, and to live without fear. A girl should not have to limit her dreams because she is afraid of harassment.
She should not have to remain silent to avoid being judged.
She should not have to accept unsafe situations because she feels she has no choice.
Empowering young women means giving them more than opportunities. It means giving them the knowledge, confidence, support, and skills to protect themselves and make informed choices.

Self-defense is not about looking for a fight, it’s about knowing what to do when your safety is at risk. **e

When people hear “self-defense,” they often think about punches and kicks.
But real self-defense starts much earlier.
It begins with awareness, preparation, and trusting your instincts. Self-defense isn’t just about reacting, it’s about reducing risk and making informed decisions before danger escalates. Every woman and girl deserves to feel safe, informed, and empowered. **e

When we believe this myth, we risk overlooking situations that can occur in broad daylight and place the responsibility on circumstances instead of where it belongs—on those who choose to commit these acts.

The truth is simple:

* There is no “safe” time for sexual violence.
* Survivors are never to blame.
* Awareness and education help us build safer communities.
