Twenty years ago, a vision was born.
A vision that believed communities could be stronger, that women and girls deserved to be heard, that young people deserved opportunities, and that change was possible when people chose to care.
That vision became Olive Community Development Initiative (OCDI).
From those early days to today, the journey has not always been easy. There have been challenges, lessons, moments of uncertainty, and seasons that demanded resilience.
But through it all, one thing has remained constant: the commitment to serve.
For two decades, OCDI has walked alongside communities, creating safe spaces, empowering women and girls, supporting young people, promoting health and education, and standing against gender-based violence.
And behind every programme, every training, every community engagement and every milestone are people.
It looks like a woman who tested positive for HIV, but found support, embraced her treatment, and found the strength to keep living fully.
It looks like a woman who survived abuse, found her voice, rebuilt her life, and found her feet again.
It looks like a survivor who dared to seek justice and got it.
It looks like a schoolgirl whose dreams were interrupted, but who was given a second chance to return to school and continue her journey.
It looks like a woman who gained a skill, an opportunity, and the confidence to build a better future.
It looks like a girl discovering her rights, finding her voice, and learning that her story matters.
It looks like communities becoming safer, healthier, and more empowered.
This is what 20 years of OCDI looks like.
Not just programmes.
Not just numbers.
But lives changed. Stories rewritten. Hope restored.
Twenty years of showing up.
Twenty years of standing with communities.
Twenty years of believing that every person deserves the opportunity to thrive.
Twenty years later, the vision lives on. And the story continues.
