Who we are:
OCDI is a non-governmental, non-religious and non-political organization that provides social services such as counseling, psychosocia

l support, empowerment, legal aid, welfare support and skill acquisition to women, girls and youths in Nigeria. Health:
We promote and advocate for the s*xual and reproductive health rights of women, girls and youths, we conduct medical outreaches for different communities and groups. We offer malaria, TB, cancer and HIV/AIDS related services.

2. Education:
We advocate for girl child education, we work to improve equal, access to affordable and quality education for girls and youths. We provide non-formal education for married girls and other adults.

3. Livelihood:
This programme is aimed at supporting women, girls and youths with financial and infrastructural resources for their business, which in turn increases their income and improve the general well being of the household. Vision:
To see a society where women, girls and youths are able to cope with all challenges of life and live in dignity. Mission:
We promote the rights and empowerment of women, girls and youths through partnership and capacity building to enable social justice and help them live in a world free from poverty and diseases. History:
The organization was started by the CEO and her friends when she was asked to take up leadership responsibilities in Kwara State Polytechnic as the director of socials and the only female amongst all the executives. She realized the hassles young girls just getting into school face from older boys. She realized the girls lacks skills to resist s*xual pressure, they are non-assertive and lack refusal skills. Female students also felt she must be someone so special and possess extra powers to be the only female in a male dominated environment. Sensitization and awareness program for girls in the school was carried out to address the issue.

By providing safe spaces and essential life skills, we are helping girls overcome barriers from hygiene and self-esteem to returning to school after pregnancy and mastering literacy. At Olive Community Development Initiative (OCDI), we join the world in commemorating World Health Day 2026, themed “Global Action for Universal Health Coverage.”

We recognize that access to quality, affordable healthcare is a fundamental human right not a privilege. This is why our projects are designed to bridge gaps in healthcare access for women, girls, and vulnerable populations within underserved communities.

Through our ongoing interventions, we promote health education, support HIV/AIDS prevention and awareness, strengthen community-based responses to gender-based violence, and advocate for inclusive health systems that leave no one behind.

At OCDI, we believe that achieving universal health coverage requires collective action, sustained advocacy, and community-centered solutions. We remain committed to empowering individuals with the knowledge, resources, and support they need to live healthier, safer, and more dignified lives.

Together, we can create a future where everyone, everywhere, has access to the care they deserve.

Olive Community Development Initiative is reaching out to support survivors of recent attacks in certain communities in Kwara State. Many women and children have been affected and are currently facing difficult living conditions. As part of our response, we are organizing a cloth and relief drive to provide essential items including food, toiletries, and clothing for adults and babies. We call on individuals and organizations to support this cause. Every donation, no matter how small, will go a long way in bringing relief, hope, and a sense of care to those affected.

Our Program Officer on the N-THRIP (NIGERIA TUBERCULOSIS AND HIV REACH INTEGRATION PROJECT) Project was among the participants at a 3-day workshop organized by National AIDS, Viral Hepatitis and STIs Control Programme (NASCP) in collaboration with Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI), focused on Demand Generation and Community Engagement for LEN PrEP.

The workshop spotlighted Lenacapavir, a newly introduced PrEP option in Nigeria, while emphasizing the importance of adopting a comprehensive and inclusive messaging approach. LEN was positioned as an addition to existing HIV prevention options, including Oral PrEP and CAB-LA, to ensure individuals and communities can make informed choices about the PrEP method that best suits their needs.

Through active participation in engagements like this, we continue to strengthen our capacity to drive community awareness, support informed decision-making, and expand access to effective HIV prevention services.

What happened in Ozoro, Delta State is not culture. It is violence.

Women and girls were harassed, chased, and assaulted in public spaces. No tradition, no belief, no excuse can justify this.

We are demanding accountability. We are demanding justice.

We call on .nigeria , , , and to take immediate and decisive action.

Survivors deserve protection. Perpetrators must be held accountable.

Justice must be served.

Today, on International Women’s Day, we honor all women in every reality and every challenge, from women breaking barriers in communities, to those living with HIV, surviving violence, navigating areas affected by bandit attacks like Patigi and Kaiama, working as s*x workers, or struggling with psychological vulnerability.

At Olive Community Development Initiative, we see daily the courage, resilience, and humanity of these women and the tireless dedication of our staff, volunteers, and partners who show that real change happens when we give. Time, care, and hope create impact, because when we give, we gain transformation that touches lives.

This IWD, we reaffirm that every woman matters, every voice deserves to be heard, and every life touched is a step toward justice, dignity, and equity.

Let’s continue to give to gain, standing with women everywhere in their diversity, struggle, and triumph.
