Youth Initiative for Community Development (YICOD) joins Malawi and the entire world in commemorating !.

We believe that young people have a critical role to play in the fight against HIV/AIDS. Today, as YICOD, we reaffirm our commitment to raising awareness about HIV/AIDS among young people and continuing to support HIV prevention, treatment, and care initiatives. We will also continue to advocate for policies and programs that prioritize young people's needs in the HIV/AIDS response.

Our take on Government Internship Program!

We believe the government's internship program is a great opportunity for young professionals to gain hands-on experience and contribute to national development. The program equips interns with practical skills and exposure to real-world challenges hence bridging the gap between academic learning and the job market.

However, there is a need to address the inefficiencies rocking the program to ensure that it fully prepares the future workforce and contributes to a stronger economy."

DAY OF AFRICAN THE CHILD COMMEMORATION HIGHLIGHTS

Today, we joined learners and various council stakeholders at Dedza Stadium commemorating the Day of the African Child. Today's event is aimed at delivering messages to duty bearers, urging them to care for, protect, support, and respect the rights of children to Education. Additionally, it calls on various stakeholders to unite in alleviating challenges that children face in their educational pursuits.

The Day of the African Child is observed annually on 16th June. In 2024, Malawi is commemorating this National event at Chitala Primary School Ground, Traditional Authority (TA) Khombedza, Salima this coming Friday on 26th July, 2024 under the theme: “Promoting Quality and Inclusive Education for All Children in Malawi"

The Day of the African Child was set in 1991 by the African States under Organisation of African Unity. This day is dedicated to remembering children who were massacred in 1976 in South Africa during a peaceful protest against the Apartheid government. The protest was against the inferior quality of education they were receiving.

We are honored to participate in the 2 day Animal Source Foods (ASF) Programming in Malawi Learning Event. This event provides a valuable platform for sharing knowledge and experiences as it aims to enhance the effectiveness and sustainability of ASF interventions, ultimately improving food and nutrition security, and increasing the percentage of the population meeting the minimum acceptable diet in the country and to foster knowledge exchange, collaboration, and sharing of experiences among stakeholders involved in animal source food (ASF) programming in Malawi
