Throughout this week, we spotlighted women across our network who are shaping sectors where representation has too often lagged behind talent.

Their stories remind us why this matters.

Visibility matters.
Representation matters.
Our voices matter.

From all of us at Business Mauritius, Happy International Women’s Day. Here's to the incredible women on whose shoulders we stand, and to those who will lead us into tomorrow.

Construction has never been an easy space for women to enter - let alone lead.

Yet across the built environment, women are increasingly stepping onto sites, into boardrooms and across value chains, bringing expertise that strengthens the entire sector.

Today’s spotlight celebrates that momentum.

As Mauritius works to strengthen food security and agricultural resilience, the agro sector is evolving - requiring technical expertise, strategic thinking and long-term stewardship.

Today, we spotlight Jacqueline Sauzier, General Secretary of the Mauritius Chamber of Agriculture and member of the Business Mauritius National Council, a leader contributing to how the sector adapts and grows in a changing economic and environmental landscape.

Each year, women account for roughly 35% of STEM graduates globally. Yet that representation declines in research, laboratory leadership and applied industrial science roles.

Bridging that gap requires visible pathways and leadership in practice.

Today, we spotlight Hansa Dhallapah, Quality Assurance Lead at CERNOL Ltd, whose journey from Lab Chemist to leadership reflects the strength of women shaping STEM from within.

While technology today is rapidly reshaping every sector, women remain significantly underrepresented in the field. Globally, statistics show that women account for roughly 28% of the tech workforce, and in AI, that figure drops to around 22%, with even fewer women in senior technical and leadership roles.

As AI and digital transformation redefine how businesses operate, ensuring diverse leadership in this space goes far beyond symbolism. It is sound strategy.

Today, we spotlight Diya Nababsing-Jetshan, Head of Technology & Digital Transformation at IBL Group and co-opted member of the Business Mauritius National Council, one of the leading women contributing to how organisations evolve in a rapidly changing digital landscape.

Women represent nearly 40% of the global workforce, yet hold only about 20% of roles in the energy sector, with even fewer in technical and leadership positions.

As Mauritius advances its energy transition, we cannot afford to leave talent on the sidelines.

Today’s spotlight recognises a woman building experience, capability and leadership in a sector that needs both innovation and courage.

𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗶𝘀 𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝘁 𝗯𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘀𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗽 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁.

Under this year’s International Women’s Day theme, , we honour women who have stepped into rooms where no woman had entered before. Women who have taken seats at tables that only admitted men. Women who walked onto sites, entered labs and leadership spaces knowing they were breaking new ground.

Trailblazers do not move forward for themselves alone. By giving of their courage, their competence and their self-belief, they light the path for those who follow.

We begin this series with Madhavi Ramdin-Clark, the first woman Vice-President of Business Mauritius, a milestone that reflects both the distance we’ve travelled and the responsibility to keep widening the way.
