✨ This week, we celebrated 102 women in Rodrigues, their resilience, and the incredible journeys that lie ahead.

Through the Goal Accelerator Programme in Rodrigues, these women embraced every opportunity to learn, grow, and believe in their potential over the past three months.

The ceremony was made even more special by heartfelt testimonies from two beneficiaries and beautiful performances of original songs by two talented participants, a wonderful reminder that our aspiring entrepreneurs are also artists, dreamers, and changemakers. 🌸

A heartfelt thank you to our dedicated Goal Coaches, our partners, and the Commissioner for Women for joining us in celebrating this inspiring milestone.

Special thanks to Women Win and the Standard Chartered Foundation for their invaluable support in making this programme possible and empowering women to transform their lives and communities in Rodrigues.

🌸 JA Mascareignes continues to empower young women with the confidence, skills, and inspiration to shape their own futures.

Participants from the Triolet cohort had the privilege of meeting two inspiring women entrepreneurs who generously shared their experiences, challenges, and lessons learned along the way.

🌿 Natacha Boodhoo, Founder of The Womb Creation and author of Levey, invited participants into her creative universe, demonstrating how passion, innovation, and resilience can be transformed into meaningful opportunities.

Through her artistic projects, her entrepreneurial journey, and excerpts from her book, she encouraged participants to embrace their uniqueness and trust their potential.

⭐ Laura Mooneesamy, Founder of Gold Models, inspired the cohort with her personal story of determination and growth. Her message resonated deeply with participants:
"Where we come from does not determine who we will become."

Through practical advice, authentic sharing, and positive energy, Laura reminded participants that confidence, perseverance, and self-belief are powerful tools for shaping their future.

These mentorship sessions are at the heart of the Goal Accelerator program, creating opportunities for young women to connect with role models, gain new perspectives, and envision new possibilities for themselves.

👉 The Goal Accelerator Program supports young women aged 18-35 in building confidence, developing essential life and employability skills, and strengthening their path towards economic independence.

🌸Empowering women through knowledge, awareness, and meaningful conversations.

As part of the Goal Accelerator Program, participants from Black River - Mauritius cohort attended three impactful sessions focused on digital literacy, financial literacy and health awareness.

📱 Digital Literacy Session

Led by Diya Teeluck from Paoma, the session encouraged participants to reflect on the importance of being mindful of what they share online and on social media, while also raising awareness about protecting personal information in the digital age and when interacting with AI tools.

💳 Financial Literacy Session

Rajshree Luximon from Standard Chartered Bank engaged participants in meaningful discussions about their relationship with money, shaped by childhood experiences and past perceptions. The session also explored the importance of setting life and financial goals, developing saving habits, and learning how to navigate negativity and external influences with confidence and focus.

🎀 Breast Cancer Awareness Session

Dr Bhavna Jeelal Outra from Breast Cancer Care sensitised participants on the importance of early detection, self-palpation, and recognising the physical signs and symptoms of breast cancer through informative discussions and visuals.

25/05/2026

Sixty-three years ago, a continent chose itself.

In the face of everything that had been taken, divided, and diminished, Africa stood up and said: " We belong to each other. That declaration, made on May 25, 1963, was not just political. It was a promise. A commitment to unity, to integration, to building something together that no single nation could build alone.

Sixty-three years later, that promise is still being kept. Not just in boardrooms and summits, but in classrooms, bootcamps, school compounds, and community halls across 23 African countries. In the hands of a young woman in Tanzania who just launched her first business. In the voice of a boy in Nigeria who stood in front of judges and pitched an idea he had once only dreamed about. In the confidence of a girl in Burkina Faso who, despite everything the world threw at her community, showed up, learned, and created a social impact project that addressed a real problem in her neighborhood.

This is what African development looks like up close. Not a statistic. Not a policy paper. A person. A young person, equipped, encouraged, and unleashed.

Africa Day is a reminder that the continent's greatest asset has always been its people. And its youngest people, the ones coming of age right now, are not the future. They are the present. They are already here, already building, already leading.

Happy Africa Day!
