General information
Mongolian Red Cross Youth Movement Red cross youth program was established in 1993. In 2005, Red Cross Youth program was expanded to Red cross youth movement, therefore was updated its policy, strategy and rule. Mongolian Red cross youth movement (RCY) aims to implement children and youth based multiple Red Cross services through the community in nationwide. Membership: Over 60000 Junior Red Cross members and over 15000 Red Cross Youth members are all around the country. Structure: RCY consists of Youth president, coordination committee, Mid-Level Branch Junior and Red Cross youth clubs, Primary Level Branch Junior Red Cross groups. Activity directions: International humanitarian law (IHL), and Fundamental principles Promote IHL, RCRC Fundamental principles, Red Cross Red Crescent (RCRC) services among children and youth; engage young people through humanitarian activities. • First Aid Conduct First aid training to prepare peer educators, and organize competition to motivate and activate among RCY members. • HIV\AIDS Raise awareness of Sexually Transmitted Infection (STI), HIV\AIDS by providing information and materials, promote the understanding of HIV\AIDS and HIV infections to prevent young people through conducting training, and organizing campaign to positively influence on young people’ behavior. • Blood donor program – Club-25 Call children and youth through healthy lifestyle, increase the number of voluntary non-remunerated blood donors, to contribute blood and blood products sufficiency by recruiting more young people through voluntary blood donation, promote Club-25 activities and mobilize young people to blood donation activities. • Disaster management Conduct Disaster preparedness training to prevent infectious disease, to reduce disaster risk, to be prepared before, during disaster; and to be able to aid disaster relief in disaster affected areas. • Social Care – “Helpful group” Red Cross “Helpful group” works at Primary Level Branch for caring vulnerable groups as elders, single parent with multi children, disabled people etc. Primary Level Branch supports and ensures Helpful group to reach the most vulnerable group in the community. Helpful group role is to help vulnerable groups, promote humanitarian activities among adolescents, and RCY award and encourage them by “Helpful child” medal for their effort. • International partnership, Friendship, cooperation Collaborate with other children and youth organizations at national and international level to exchange knowledge and experiences, to share best practices of other youth, and learn beyond Red Cross services. Therefore conduct training, organize meeting, engage them to the humanitarian campaign and activities, and involve them to RCY Assembly and meeting to build long term partnership. • Environmental health Improve environmental health of children and youth. Children and youth based campaigns are organized such as planting trees, cleaning up the environment, and setting up the proper use of wastes in bin. Engage children and youth through humanitarian campaigns, and mobilize them to save and protect the environment and nature. • Self development Conduct “Youth as agents of behavioral change” (YABC) training, organize National Camp Gathering, conduct leadership training, organize humanitarian activities under youth led, and to give children and youth the opportunity to improve their skills in multiple ways. • International Friendship-4 project (IFP-4) “International Friendship” project has been implementing since 2005 in Red cross youth movement. This is fourth IFP and it has been implementing from 2013 until now in 2 districts and 6 provinces. The overall project aims to increase the hygiene practices of children and youth in rural school settings, and to increase the general knowledge and preparation of how to respond in the event of a disaster using Youth as Agents of Behavioral Change methodology. The project reaches over 160000 school students each year.
