On August 27, 2026, Day 1 of LCOY Liberia 2026 officially kicked off with an intense, high-impact Climate Youth Negotiators Training program at the Orange Digital Center in Congo Town.

Instead of just demanding change, young Liberian leaders are learning how to negotiate it. Over 20 passionate change-makers spent the day mastering UNFCCC processes, navigating complex policy documents, and diving into live mock negotiation simulations.
The day reached a historic milestone with the official launch of the Liberian Youth Negotiators Group, preparing our youth to confidently represent Liberia at upcoming global climate forums like COY21 and COP31.

Youth are not just inheriting the climate crisis, we are actively negotiating the solutions! 🇱🇷✨

Are you ready to shape the future of global water policy?

Applications are open for the Global Youth Water Envoys Program, launched this July at the High Level Political Forum in New York by the Arab Youth Center in partnership with the Children's Investment Fund Foundation, the Green Africa Youth Organization and WaterAid.
The program will select 100 young people from around the world to represent their communities at the UN Water Conference in the United Arab Emirates this December, and GAYO is responsible for selecting the 25 African envoys within that cohort.

This is an individual application. Young people apply directly, ideally aged 18 to 35 and active in water or climate work.

Liberian Youth for Climate Actions (LYCA) is pleased to announce its participation in the ECOWAS Youth Consultation on Human Mobility in the Context of Climate Change, being held in Accra, Ghana, from 30 June to 2 July 2026.

Representing the organization at this important regional engagement is our Deputy Executive Director, Ms. Lydia B. Porkpah.

The consultation convenes youth representatives from across the ECOWAS region to strengthen young people’s knowledge and capacity on the nexus between climate change and human mobility, foster inclusive youth dialogue, inform regional policy processes, and establish sustainable mechanisms that enable meaningful youth participation in the development and implementation of regional policies.

As climate-induced displacement and migration continue to present significant challenges across West Africa, it is imperative that young people are recognized as key partners in advancing evidence-informed, inclusive, and sustainable policy solutions. LYCA remains committed to promoting youth leadership and ensuring that the perspectives and priorities of young Liberians contribute to regional and global climate governance.

We are confident that Ms. Porkpah’s participation will further strengthen Liberia’s youth voice in regional discussions and contribute to advancing collaborative approaches to addressing the impacts of climate change on human mobility.

We wish her a productive and successful engagement throughout the consultation.

LYCA held stakeholder engagement meeting with ActionAid Liberia to review the impact of our past Post-COP events, which was funded by small grants under S**C West Africa.

We are proud of what we achieved and even more excited about the future as we discuss new ways to sustain our partnership and continue driving youth-led climate action across Liberia.

This World Oceans Day is a call to action and not just awareness.

We must reimagine our relationship with the ocean:
🚯 End plastic pollution at the source
🐟 Protect marine biodiversity, not exploit it
🌱 Invest in sustainable ocean practices
⚖️ Hold industries accountable for ocean harm

As we mark World Environment Day 2026, we are reminded of a clear scientific warning consistently emphasized by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC): human-induced climate change is already widespread, rapidly intensifying, and will continue to worsen unless urgent and sustained action is taken.

From rising global temperatures and increasingly frequent extreme weather events to accelerating biodiversity loss and growing threats to food and water security, the climate crisis is no longer a distant projection it is a lived reality affecting communities across the world, including Liberia.

Today is not only a moment of reflection it is a renewed call to responsibility and collective action. The choices we make today will determine whether future generations inherit a planet defined by opportunity or one constrained by crisis.

We are proud to announce a landmark partnership between Libassa Wildlife Sanctuary (LiWiSa) and Liberian Youth for Climate Actions (LYCA), effective June 1, 2026.

Together, we are establishing the National Resilience & Awareness Hub — a first-of-its-kind national platform dedicated to strengthening environmental awareness, wildlife conservation, climate resilience, and youth leadership across Liberia.

The Hub will serve as a dynamic space where young Liberians learn, lead, and take action through environmental education, conservation field programs, youth ambassador training, community outreach, and public awareness campaigns.

Yesterday, May 29, 2026, the Liberian Youth for Climate Actions (LYCA) joined key stakeholders to formally validate Liberia’s national Climate Change Learning Strategy.

The high-level validation event was organized by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) of Liberia in collaboration with the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR). The workshop gathered key stakeholders from both civil society organizations and government sectors to thoroughly review, refine, and provide final inputs for the strategic document.

This comprehensive strategy aims to mainstream climate change education across the country. It establishes a framework to equip young people with the essential tools, knowledge, and resources needed to drive climate action and combat environmental challenges. Executive members of the Liberian Youth for Climate Actions actively participated in the session, ensuring that youth perspectives are deeply integrated into the nation's climate education roadmap.
