🌍✨ 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝 𝐂𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐧𝐮𝐩 𝐃𝐚𝐲 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓 – 𝐋𝐘𝐂𝐀 𝐢𝐧 𝐀𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 ✨🌍

year, is observed as the largest civic action against waste, uniting millions across more than 190 countries to clean up litter, raise awareness, and promote sustainable waste solutions.

This year, the event was observed on September 20, and our Manager for Administration, Courage Forratino Chileegbo, joined in, proudly representing as we stood with volunteers and communities across Liberia. 🙌♻️

It was coordinated by the Liberia National Tourism Association (LINTA), mobilizing volunteers in several counties to tackle waste challenges. From policy rooms to community cleanups, LYCA’s commitment remains the same: ensuring that young people are at the heart of climate solutions.

Climate action is not just about policies and commitments written on paper; it’s about real actions in our schools, streets, rivers, and communities. Together, we can build a cleaner, greener, and more resilient Liberia. ✨

🌍✨ 𝐅𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐅𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝐌𝐞𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐨 𝐅𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐕𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡 𝐢𝐧 𝐋𝐢𝐛𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐚’𝐬 𝐍𝐃𝐂 𝟑.𝟎 ✨🌍

The journey to Liberia’s NDC 3.0 has been long and inspiring, and through it all, LYCA made sure young people’s voices shaped the process. From the first technical meeting in March to the final National Validation at Monrovia City Hall, youth perspectives are now fully reflected in Liberia’s climate commitments.

This was made possible with the support of UNDP Liberia, ActionAid Liberia, EPA, UN Women, and UNICEF, who helped ensure inclusivity for youth, women, children, and persons with disabilities. Together, we championed commitments that put people at the heart of climate action.

✅ Youth: 40% of agri-finance for youth-led initiatives, 5,000 green jobs, and a Youth Innovation Fund by 2028.
✅ Women: 20% of climate finance for women-led initiatives, training 5,000 women in climate-smart agriculture.
✅ Children: Climate change integrated in 100% of school curricula and climate-resilient WASH in schools by 2030.

🙌 We celebrate this milestone, but the work is just beginning. Liberia’s youth stand ready to turn NDC 3.0 from paper into action, building a future that is resilient, inclusive, and youth-driven.

Ganta, Nimba County – The Liberian Youth for Climate Actions (LYCA) joined national stakeholders at Jackie’s Resort in Ganta for the regional validation of Liberia’s updated Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC 3.0) under the Paris Agreement.

Represented by Executive Director Ezekiel Nyanfor and Manager for Planning & Programs Emmanuel D. Wilson, LYCA emphasized the importance of youth, women, children, and persons living with disabilities in shaping Liberia’s climate future.

During the event, our delegation met with Mr. Louis Kuukpen, Deputy Country Representative of UNDP-Liberia, to extend appreciation for UNDP’s continued support of inclusive participation in the NDC 3.0 process.

Building on recent engagements, including the ccGAP review, LYCA reaffirmed its commitment to championing meaningful youth and gender-responsive climate action.

The validation marks a milestone in strengthening Liberia’s climate ambition while ensuring that vulnerable communities remain central to national climate strategies.

✨ At the ongoing Youth Academy on Climate Adaptation and Leadership in Nairobi, our Executive Director, Ezekiel Nyanfor, made a strong call during an engagement with Patrick Verkooijen, CEO of the Global Center on Adaptation (GCA).

💰 He stressed the urgent need to double adaptation finance and 📊 called for inclusive adaptation indicators so that no community is left behind.

🙌 This reflects our commitment to ensuring youth voices shape global climate adaptation policies. We are not just leaders of tomorrow, we are partners in solutions today.

Our Executive Director, Ezekiel Nyanfor had the honor of delivering a presentation on Liberia’s profile, overview of climate change, adaptation and youth policies, and adaptation actions of LYCA.

This was an opportunity to show that world what youths are doing in Liberia, our unique culture and landscape, that the world should visit Liberia.
