On Saturday March 14, the Mela Lebanon Chapter gathered for a warm and heartfelt conference call.

It was a moment of solidarity, a space where members could pause, share thoughts, and uplift one another during these challenging times.

They reflected not only on the difficulties many are facing due to the military attacks on Lebanon - like the freeze of business - but also on the deeper meaning of leadership.

True leadership, the kind we value at Mela, is rooted in integrity, empathy, and responsibility toward our communities.

Whatever the path, these moments remind us that leadership is not only about positions, it is about humanity, presence, and standing together when it matters most.

Grateful for this community and the strength we find in one another. A special thank you to Hiba Chamout, Mela Lebanon Chapter President, for bringing the community together.

Welcoming ELIE EL ZOUKI.

Professor ElZouki is the Director of Sustainable Development and Communications at the Royal Academy of Science International Trust (RASIT), where he leads global communication and outreach efforts to engage international audiences and support sustainable development initiatives. In this role, he oversees strategic communications, digital media, and public outreach programs, while contributing to policy analysis and multi-stakeholder partnerships that advance socio-economic sustainability.

A Lebanese–French academic and practitioner, Professor ElZouki has more than 30 years of experience teaching business and economics at both private and public universities. He has also held senior roles in Lebanese banks and financial brokerage firms and serves as Managing Director of MOUSTASHAROUN, an ISO Bureau Veritas-approved consulting office providing accounting, auditing, and sustainable development consultancy since 1996.

Elie is also the Founder and President of GRACE Social Entrepreneurship, supporting children with disabilities and special needs, and actively promotes youth leadership, education development, and gender equality. Fluent in Arabic, French, and English, he holds a Master’s degree in Economics and a postgraduate D.E.A. in Multinational Finance, and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Social Economics in France.

Mela Jordan brought its members together in Amman for an engaging evening of insight, connection, and collaboration.

We were honored to welcome Issam Hijazi, founder of Upscrolled—a digital media and content platform that helps brands and organizations grow their online presence through strategic storytelling, content creation, and audience engagement—as special guest speaker. Issam shared valuable insights from his entrepreneurial journey and offered practical perspectives on navigating the evolving digital landscape.

The conversation continued with “The Ask,” moderated by Salma AlShuhail, an interactive session inspired by the spirit of the Mela Masterclass. Members exchanged ideas, posed real business questions, and supported each other with candid advice and solutions.
