Trust official websites and credible media houses for updates. Unscrupulous sources thrive on confusion, but accurate information saves lives.

Meet Christal Heaven from the St. James Branch of the Jamaica Red Cross!

As a volunteer, she has learned the true meaning of compassion, empathy, and being present for others. In her words: “What we do is more than service. It’s heart, it’s humanity, and it’s hope.”

The 2026 Atlantic Hurricane Season is here, and one of the smartest things you can do is to pack an emergency bag ahead of time.

When the storm hits, you don't want to scramble. Having essentials ready means that you can move quickly and stay safe.

Our list isn’t exhaustive, but we found it important to highlight items like:
✔️ First aid supplies
✔️ Flashlights & batteries
✔️ Important documents
✔️ Non-perishable food & water

Preparation today can make all the difference tomorrow. Stay ready, stay safe.

It’s June, and we’re already ten days into the 2026 Atlantic Hurricane Season. And guess what? June also happens to be Disaster Preparedness Month.

For communities still picking up the pieces after Hurricane Melissa last year, “normal” hasn’t yet returned, so this season hits a little differently.

😮‍💨 😮‍💨 😮‍💨 A lot’s going on, but here’s the thing: the best time to prepare was yesterday, and the next best time is today. So, while you’re getting ready, we’ve got some quick reminders for you, including this year’s storm names and the forecast.

🌊 On , we embrace the theme, Reimagine: Beyond the world we know, a new relationship with our ocean.

The ocean sustains life, livelihoods, and climate stability. It can also devastate. At the Jamaica Red Cross, we stand with coastal communities to build resilience, restore dignity, and reimagine a future where the ocean is both a source of risk and renewal.

Together we can protect marine ecosystems, support sustainable livelihoods, and commit to climate justice so the ocean remains a source of hope for generations to come. 🌍💙
