Caribbean Coastal Area Management (C-CAM) promotes coastal conservation in Jamaica. C-CAM Eco Tours

C-CAM is an environmental and development NGO based in Lionel Town, Clarendon, Jamaica since 1997. C-CAM works in the Portland Bight Protected Area, this includes working with communities to develop sustainable livelihoods, encourage wise use of natural resources, promote community involvement in decision-making and to protect the cultural heritage and biodiversity of the area.

C-CAM is proud to partner with the Forestry Department for our 2026 Tree Planting Initiative, bringing together students from primary and high schools across the Portland Bight.

This year, we’re putting young environmental stewards at the heart of conservation—planting trees, nurturing our natural environment, and building a stronger connection between our communities and the ecosystems that sustain us.

Every seedling planted today is an investment in tomorrow. Together, we’re growing a legacy of environmental responsibility for generations to come. 🌱

EMPOWERING COMMUNITIES. BUILDING CAPACITY. PROTECTING OUR FUTURE.

Yesterday, C-CAM hosted a Community Framework Validation and Chainsaw Workshop at the Portland Bight Discovery Centre, bringing together members of the Portland Bight Protected Area (PBPA) community.

The session provided an opportunity for community members to share their perspectives, strengthen practical skills, and contribute to building a framework that supports safer practices, stronger communities, and sustainable management of our natural resources.🪚🌳

When communities are equipped with the knowledge and tools to lead, conservation becomes a shared responsibility.

BUILDING SKILLS. STRENGTHENING RELATIONSHIPS. CREATING SOLUTIONS.

Last Friday, C-CAM hosted a Conflict Management Workshop under the CEPF Project, bringing together participants to strengthen their skills in communication, collaboration, and constructive conflict resolution.

Through meaningful discussions and practical activities, participants explored ways to navigate challenges, build understanding, and work together toward positive outcomes.

What better way to spark curiosity than by bringing young minds closer to the wonders of nature? 💚

The Portland Bight Discovery Centre welcomed three primary schools from within the Portland Bight Protected Area for an exciting day of learning, discovery and exploration as part of the Institute of Jamaica’s “An Afternoon with a Scientist” campaign. 🔬

From discovering the incredible biodiversity of the Portland Bight to learning more about the importance of protecting our coastal and marine ecosystems, our young explorers got the opportunity to ask questions, share ideas and see science come to life. 🐠🪸🦀🌱

Because every great scientist starts with a question…
“Why?” “How?” “What if?”

Today’s curious minds are tomorrow’s scientists, conservationists and environmental champions. 🌱🔬💙

Here’s to creating experiences that inspire the next generation to explore, understand and protect the natural world around them.

BEACH MONITORING: OUR SHORES, OUR DATA, OUR RESPONSIBILITY!!!

C-CAM ventured out across our bays, islands and cays to conduct beach monitoring — and our incredible volunteers took the lead.

Armed with dedication, teamwork and a passion for our coastal environment, our volunteers helped collect valuable data that gives us a better understanding of the health and changes taking place along our beaches. 📋🌊

Every footprint, observation and data point tells a story. Together, we’re turning that information into action to help protect, restore and conserve our coastal ecosystems for generations to come.
