Persistence and determination are omnipotent.

It has taken us 4 months to complete the repair of this classroom.

A special thank you to:

Mr. Michael Reid, GDL staff member for all the time that he committed to this project; Mr. Carnell Minto (GDL carpenter, who is not a grade 1 contractor, who tore down the rotten ceiling) and,
Mr. Horace McKellop (Principal of Hampden Primary and Infant) for his infinite patience with the cleaners.

As you can see, Mr. Mckellop has wasted no time in getting these kids back into the classroom!

The Patricia Thompson Basic Schools Nutrition Programme has been ongoing in our basic schools for the past fifteen years. As a part of this important initiative, we host the Nutrition-Friendly Schools Competition in which cooks are assessed and awarded for upholding high nutritional standards.

During the most recent staging of the Competition, JINN carried out kitchen inspections and assessments, and GFF handed over bonuses to the cooks totaling approximately $300,000.

All of our cooks did exceptionally well and received top scores for their efforts. We are very proud of their accomplishments and encouraged to know that our young students are getting the proper nutrition to facilitate learning and growth!

After the patients from the Infirmary were relocated from Hague Primary & Infant School in Trelawny, our Summertime @ Silver Sands Sister Team stepped up to provide the school’s bathrooms with a much needed deep clean before the school reopened for the New Year.

AND the Gore Homes team worked tirelessly in RAIN or SHINE to repair and cover the roof of that section as well.

Recently, our Construction Project Managenent students got the great opportunity to visit a project that Architect Nicole Auden, who assists us with teaching this course, is working on. They were able to gain practical exposure to tropical modern architecture, the design process and how it transforms into a final built product.

GFF's Special Education Teachers, Gore Scholars, and volunteers have been working tirelessly to assist with recovery efforts for families in the communities hardest-hit by Hurricane Melissa.

In this time of crisis, as we assist in providing the necessities, we also want to ensure that we provide anything that can give children joy. To that end, we've also included toys, which are meant to be powerful instruments of healing and hope.

Together, we will rebuild Jamaica.

Heritage Day celebrations at our basic schools this week!

I’m always about doing good for Jamaica. And I love to highlight stories of people and organizations doing the same.

You may be familiar with Gore Developments Limited. They’re the largest real estate developers in the English-speaking Caribbean, and they’ve been building homes in Jamaica for decades!

But did you know that they’ve also been building hopes and dreams, working quietly, consistently and assiduously, through the work of the Phillip and Christine Gore Family Foundation?

Countless lives have been changed through scholarships and educational initiatives, from Basic to Tertiary! And they haven’t left out the folks who helped build their great company - their staff.

We salute them on their passion, and on caring about Jamaica’s future! Here’s a look at the impact of the (GFF).

The Jamaica College Construction Project Management Course, which is the brainchild of GDL Chairman and JC Old Boy Mr. Phillip Gore, wrapped up with a two-week internship on GDL’s Phoenix Park Village site recently. This internship is one of the major highlights of the course.

The GFF team is extremely proud of the impact that this course has had on students and their chosen career paths.

The Gore Family Foundation team looks forward to seeing many of the graduates of this course go on to become leaders in the field in years to come.
