Two great leaders, one timeless idea: India doesn't need loud leaders, it needs honest ones. 🇮🇳

Mahatma Gandhi ji didn't ask us to fight harder. He asked us to fight fair-with truth, with patience, with our own conscience as the only weapon.
Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri ji, former Prime Minister of India, didn't ask for statues. He asked us to respect the soldier who guards our borders and the farmer who feeds our homes-because a nation stands on both.

Neither of them chased power. They chased purpose.

This Gandhi Jayanti and Shastri Jayanti, CRY IIT Roorkee remembers and pays heartfelt tribute to two great sons of India who proved that simplicity is strength, and service is the loudest kind of leadership.

Social media is a part of our daily lives-so why not teach students how to use it wisely? 📱✨
On 29 August 2026, an impactful Social Media Awareness was conducted at NL Academy by the CRY IIT Roorkee Chapter.

Using relatable stories and examples from the lives of scientists, actors, and leaders, we encouraged students to look beyond the digital world and appreciate the value of creativity, curiosity, critical thinking, and real-world experiences. The session also highlighted how social media, when used mindfully, can go beyond entertainment and become a powerful platform for learning, exploring new ideas, gaining diverse perspectives, and expanding our knowledge.

The students’ enthusiasm made the session truly special! ✨ They actively participated, shared their thoughts, and reflected on how social media shapes their choices and perspectives. Their curiosity and openness made the conversation meaningful and inspiring.🌱

The session was not just a learning experience for the students, but a joyful and meaningful one for us as well. 💫 It reminded us that when knowledge meets curiosity, meaningful conversations begin. We hope this is just the beginning of many more such sessions, conversations, and learning experiences in the future. ✨

This Raksha Bandhan, we celebrated the festival of love, creativity, and togetherness with the children of Majra. ❤️
The celebration began with an engaging storytelling session about the significance and traditions of Raksha Bandhan, helping the children understand the beautiful story and meaning behind the festival. 📖✨

This was followed by a fun Rakhi-making activity, where we taught the children to create beautiful Rakhis using colourful papers, stickers, and threads. Their creativity and enthusiasm made the activity truly special. 🎨🧵

The sweetest moment came when the children tied Rakhis to all the CRY members, making the celebration even more memorable. 🫶🏻

We ended the day by distributing chocolates to everyone, leaving behind smiles, laughter, and beautiful memories. 🍫✨

At CRY IITR, moments like these remind us that sometimes, the simplest celebrations can create the most meaningful connections. ❤️

This Raksha Bandhan, celebrating the bonds that make childhood special❤️

For most of us, Rakhi brings back the little things-fighting over the last piece of mithai, teasing each other over the smallest things, stealing each other’s things, and knowing that no matter what, there’s always someone by our side when it truly matters.

That’s the bond we celebrate today-imperfect, sometimes chaotic, but always filled with love❤️

But this Rakhi, let’s also pause and think about children whose childhoods look very different-children who should be in classrooms, learning and dreaming about their futures, but are instead pushed into work and responsibilities far too early. Some may not even have a sibling or loved one to tie a rakhi to.

Every child deserves the right to learn, grow, dream, and experience a childhood filled with love, safety, and care.

This Raksha Bandhan, while we celebrate the bonds that mean so much to us, let’s also do our part to protect the childhoods of those who need it most❤️

We are delighted to recognize Ms. Priyanka, a second-year M.Tech student from the Department of Biosciences and Bioengineering, as our Volunteer of the Month for May and June, in recognition of her consistent dedication, enthusiasm, and meaningful contributions to the chapter’s initiatives.
Priyanka consistently brings outstanding energy and enthusiasm to the team, as reflected in her active participation in initiatives such as the Thomso flashmob dance practices.

In her words, "I joined CRY last year with the hope that I could become a part of something that creates a positive impact on society. Initially, I thought of CRY mainly as a mentorship club focused on teaching children. But gradually, I realized that it is much more than that. CRY not only supports children in their education but also helps them grow, become more aware, and build a better future. One of the highlights of my journey has been the RTE campaign, where we visited villages, collected the required documents for children, and helped their families access government schemes for school admissions. This made me feel that, in our own small way, we had done something that could create a meaningful impact on a child’s life and future."
Her journey reflects the true spirit of learning, responsibility, and community action that CRY stands for. We deeply value the energy and sincerity she brings to every initiative. 🌸💙

The CRY IITR Chapter is delighted to recognize Mr. Dhruv, a second-year PhD scholar in the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, as the Volunteer of the Month for May and June. His sincerity, kindness, and consistent efforts truly reflect the values of CRY.
Dhruv’s willingness to take on any responsibility and complete it ahead of the deadline is truly commendable.

In his words, “Being a part of CRY has been a beautiful and fulfilling experience for me. It has given me the opportunity to interact with children, learn from them, and contribute in whatever little way I can. ❤️
