This Raksha Bandhan, celebrating the bonds that make childhood special❤️

For most of us, Rakhi brings back the little things-fighting over the last piece of mithai, teasing each other over the smallest things, stealing each other’s things, and knowing that no matter what, there’s always someone by our side when it truly matters.

That’s the bond we celebrate today-imperfect, sometimes chaotic, but always filled with love❤️

But this Rakhi, let’s also pause and think about children whose childhoods look very different-children who should be in classrooms, learning and dreaming about their futures, but are instead pushed into work and responsibilities far too early. Some may not even have a sibling or loved one to tie a rakhi to.

Every child deserves the right to learn, grow, dream, and experience a childhood filled with love, safety, and care.

This Raksha Bandhan, while we celebrate the bonds that mean so much to us, let’s also do our part to protect the childhoods of those who need it most❤️

We are delighted to recognize Ms. Priyanka, a second-year M.Tech student from the Department of Biosciences and Bioengineering, as our Volunteer of the Month for May and June, in recognition of her consistent dedication, enthusiasm, and meaningful contributions to the chapter’s initiatives.
Priyanka consistently brings outstanding energy and enthusiasm to the team, as reflected in her active participation in initiatives such as the Thomso flashmob dance practices.

In her words, "I joined CRY last year with the hope that I could become a part of something that creates a positive impact on society. Initially, I thought of CRY mainly as a mentorship club focused on teaching children. But gradually, I realized that it is much more than that. CRY not only supports children in their education but also helps them grow, become more aware, and build a better future. One of the highlights of my journey has been the RTE campaign, where we visited villages, collected the required documents for children, and helped their families access government schemes for school admissions. This made me feel that, in our own small way, we had done something that could create a meaningful impact on a child’s life and future."
Her journey reflects the true spirit of learning, responsibility, and community action that CRY stands for. We deeply value the energy and sincerity she brings to every initiative. 🌸💙

The CRY IITR Chapter is delighted to recognize Mr. Dhruv, a second-year PhD scholar in the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, as the Volunteer of the Month for May and June. His sincerity, kindness, and consistent efforts truly reflect the values of CRY.
Dhruv’s willingness to take on any responsibility and complete it ahead of the deadline is truly commendable.

In his words, “Being a part of CRY has been a beautiful and fulfilling experience for me. It has given me the opportunity to interact with children, learn from them, and contribute in whatever little way I can. ❤️

This Independence Day, CRY IIT Roorkee Chapter celebrated the spirit of freedom, unity, and togetherness with the wonderful children and their parents in Majra Village. The celebration was filled with enthusiasm, creativity, and patriotic spirit as the children participated in a drawing competition, expressing their dreams and love for the nation through colours. 🎨🇮🇳

The celebrations continued with energetic dance performances, where the children showcased their confidence, talent, and joy. Their smiles and enthusiasm truly captured the spirit of the day, reminding us that every child deserves the freedom to learn, express, dream, and grow. 💃✨

The celebration was followed by a Parents-Mentor Meeting (PMM), bringing parents and mentors together to discuss the children's progress, aspirations, and development. These meaningful conversations helped strengthen our collective efforts towards supporting every child in their academic journey and personal growth.

As we celebrate 80 years of independence, let us also celebrate the freedom of every child to dream and the opportunity to turn those dreams into reality. Together, let us continue working towards a brighter and more empowered future for every child. Happy Independence Day! 🇮🇳❤️

Today is a reminder of the courage, sacrifice, and unwavering spirit of those who made our freedom possible.

As we look back with pride, we must also look ahead with responsibility. The future of our nation lies in its children.

“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.”

Our mission at the CRY IIT Roorkee Chapter is to influence the lives of young minds positively! Through the Right to Education (RTE) program, we are thrilled to share that we have successfully facilitated the admission of 31 bright children this year.

As part of our annual drive, our dedicated team visited villages surrounding Roorkee to engage with local communities and spread awareness about the RTE scheme. From conducting ground awareness to collecting documentation and guiding families through the online admission portal, our volunteers worked tirelessly to bridge the gap to quality education.

Let us continue to collaborate and ensure that every deserving child has access to the education they have the right to.

Together, we can build a brighter future!
