Aamra Kajon Character development through theatre A group of a few like-minded individuals came together in 1985 with their first production, 'BABUDER DAL KUKURE'.

Titling themselves Aamra Kajon (Bengali for ‘A Few Of Us’), this group, from that first amateurish attempt till this date, has come a long way experimenting with various plays and theatre. Since then, Aamra Kajon has won numerous awards, prizes and felicitations for their contribution in theatre. Aamra Kajon has steadily strived for advancement of theatre for the last two and half decades, giving

good performances year after year and always engaging in attempts to improve, it has created a special place for itself in the world of Bengali theatre of the capital. During this course, Aamra Kajon, in its dedicated pursuit of excellence and experimentation has staged numerous plays, names of which also include award winning productions like ‘Neelam Neelam’, ‘Dilli Chalo’, ‘Pagla Ghora’, ‘Kabuliwala’, ‘Aurangzeb’, ‘Gotroheen’ and many more. Till date Aamra Kajon has staged 54 productions and has more than 180 stage performances to its credit. In the month of February, 2012 it has staged Bratya Basu's ‘Hemlat the Prince of Garanhata’ on the occasion of its 26th Annual Day Celebration. In the month of August, 2012 Aamra Kajon in association with Sahitya Kala Parishad, Delhi organised 2nd Deba Brata Sen Memorial Short Play Festival, presenting the plays ‘The Enemy’, ‘BSL’ and ‘Asamapon’ with great success. Dwarka Society of Performing Arts invited Aamra Kajon to stage play Neelam Neelam in the month of November, 2012. In January, 2013 Aamra Kajon staged play Soondor in short play festival organised by Bengal Association of Delhi. Aamra Kajon celebrated 27th Annual Day Celebration on 10th, 11th, 17th & 18th August, 2013 by staging full length play ‘Aagshuddhi’, Bangla adaptation of Arthur Miller's ‘The Crucible’, casting twenty five artists. Aamra Kajon is not only just a theatre group, but an organisation that works tirelessly for social causes and continued efforts in giving a new dimension to Bengali theatre and a new interpretation to changing cultural values and such in a multi-faceted society.
