Reflecting on World Museum Day and this year’s theme, “Museums Uniting a Divided World”, a timely reminder of the role museums play as spaces of dialogue, shared memory, and cultural continuity.

An association with the Indian Museum, developed as part of an initiative within the AMI Arts Festival in collaboration with Kolkata Centre for a Creativity, speaks to this larger intent of creating platforms where heritage and contemporary practice come together meaningfully.

An evening of light, memory, and material histories marked the opening of Touching Light at Kolkata Centre for Creativity in collaboration with Museo Camera.

With a walkthrough by Aditya Arya and a panel featuring Mala Mukerjee, Saibal Das, Jayanta Shaw and Aditya Arya, the evening explored analogue photography as both archive and living practice.

Spanning rare 19th-century works to contemporary processes, the exhibition opens up a slower, tactile way of looking at the image, through light, time, and surface.

Touching Light is on view till 29 May 2026, from 11 AM to 7 PM at KCC.
