In a proactive move aimed at providing timely relief to rural communities affected by incessant rains and flash floods, the Secretary Rural Development Department (RDD), Jammu & Kashmir, has directed all concerned districts to accord the highest priority to the restoration of disaster-affected rural infrastructure and repair and rehabilitation of houses damaged due to floods.
Under the proactive leadership of Secretary, Rural Development Department & Panchayati Raj, Mohammad Aijaz Asad, the Department has initiated focused efforts for the swift restoration and rehabilitation of affected rural assets and residential houses across Jammu & Kashmir.
The initiative covers damaged rural roads, protection bunds, retaining walls, community buildings and other public assets, besides the repair and rehabilitation of houses damaged due to floods, with restoration and rehabilitation works to be taken up under VB-GRAM-G.
The concerned authorities have been directed to identify and prioritize the affected assets and houses and ensure that necessary works are taken up expeditiously, with due emphasis on restoring rural connectivity, essential public infrastructure and safe residential facilities for affected families.
The initiative reflects decisive leadership, responsive governance and a strong commitment to delivering timely relief to rural communities affected by natural disasters. The concerted efforts are aimed at minimizing hardships faced by affected families and ensuring early restoration of essential infrastructure and rehabilitation of damaged houses.
The move further underscores the Government’s commitment to strengthening rural resilience and ensuring prompt support and assistance to communities affected by floods and other natural calamities through coordinated and time-bound administrative action.
