A one-day Training-cum-Awareness Programme on “Drug Abuse and Its Treatment” was successfully organized for B.Sc. Nursing students at SMVDCON, Kakryal, Katra.
Organized by JKSPYM (SLCA for J&K and Ladakh) in collaboration with NISD, under the NAPDDR (Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, GoI), the session focused on:
Clinical, psychological, and rehabilitative dimensions of addiction
Treatment and long-term management strategies
The vital role of nursing professionals in early intervention and care

As part of the ongoing Nasha Mukt Abhiyan across Jammu & Kashmir, the Police Technical Training Institute (PTTI), Vijaypur, in collaboration with JKSPYM and the District De-Addiction Centre (DDAC), Samba, today inaugurated awareness programme on drug de-addiction and substance abuse prevention at the Institute.

The programme was formally inaugurated by Shri Ranjit Singh Sambyal, IPS, Principal, PTTI Vijaypur, who emphasized the urgent need for collective efforts to combat the growing menace of drug abuse and to create awareness among the youth regarding its harmful effects. He highlighted that awareness, education, and community participation are the most effective tools in building a drug-free society.

To mark the occasion, the Principal also flagged off an awareness rally from the Institute premises. The rally, joined by representatives of JKSPYM, DDAC Samba, officers, staff, and trainees of PTTI Vijaypur, passed through prominent locations of Vijaypur town, including the Main Market, Government Higher Secondary School Vijaypur, Gurha Slathia, and Gurha Morh. During the rally, participants displayed informative banners and distributed awareness pamphlets carrying important messages on drug de-addiction and healthy living.

The initiative aimed to sensitize the general public, particularly the youth, about the dangers of substance abuse and encourage them to adopt a healthy and responsible lifestyle. The event reflects the commitment of PTTI Vijaypur towards supporting the vision of a drug-free, healthy, and progressive society through sustained awareness and community outreach initiatives.

🧘‍♀️ International Yoga Day 2026 was celebrated with great enthusiasm by JKSPYM Jammu under the Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir 100 Days Campaign and Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan.

Hon'ble MLA West Jammu, Sh. Arvind Gupta, graced the occasion and encouraged everyone, especially youth, to adopt yoga as a way of life and stay away from substance abuse. Students, senior citizens, women, children, local residents of Talab Tillo, and JKSPYM staff actively participated in the event.

The message of “Choose Yoga Over Drugs” was strongly promoted. Participants were also sensitized about HIV/AIDS prevention, testing, treatment, stigma reduction, and OST services available for Injecting Drug Users (IDUs).

Together, let's build a healthier, drug-free and HIV-aware society.
