JKSPYM SLCA organized a one-day community awareness program for truck drivers on “Drug Abuse Prevention” at the Truck Stand, Narwal, Jammu.
Under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan (NMBA) and the National Action Plan for Drug Demand Reduction (NAPDDR), State Level Coordinating Agency (SLCA) for Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, organized a one-day community awareness program for truck drivers on “Drug Abuse Prevention” at the Truck Stand, Narwal, Jammu in collaboration with NISD, Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Govt. of India.
More than 70 truck drivers participated in the program. Resource persons from SLCA educated and sensitized truck drivers about the ill effects of drug abuse, risks of injecting drug use, and its link with HIV transmission. Awareness program included interactive discussions led by resource persons, who encouraged participants to adopt healthy lifestyles and avoid substance use.
A Nukkad Natak (street play) was also performed by the team of Navdurga Kala Manch to convey the message of drug-free living in an engaging and impactful manner. Mr. Kulwant Singh, Head of the Truck Union, appreciated the efforts of JKSPYM-SLCA and the resource team for organizing such a meaningful initiative and raising awareness among the trucking community, which often remains vulnerable to substance abuse.
The program concluded with a pledge by participants to spread the message of “Say No to Drugs” and contribute towards building a drug-free society.
