This world was never meant to be our permanent home. Whatever we gain here, wealth, status, beauty, possessions, and recognition, will eventually be left behind. The days pass, our years disappear, and one day our journey in this world will come to an end.
Allah reminds us:
“Every soul will taste death, and you will only be given your full compensation on the Day of Resurrection.”
— Qur’an 3:185
What will remain when everything else is gone?
Our deeds.
The prayers we offered. The charity we gave. The forgiveness we showed. The tears we shed in repentance. The help we gave when nobody was watching. The words of kindness we spoke. And even the sins we committed, unless Allah forgave them through His mercy.
The Prophet ﷺ said:
“When a person dies, his deeds come to an end except for three: ongoing charity, beneficial knowledge, or a righteous child who prays for him.”
— Sahih Muslim 1631
So do not live only for what this world can give you.
Build something for the life that comes after death.
Forgive someone for the sake of Allah. Give charity even if it is small. Guard your prayers. Turn back to Allah when you fall. Do good quietly when nobody is watching. Leave behind something beneficial that continues to earn reward after you are gone.
Because one day, every one of us will stand before Allah.
No wealth will matter.
No status will matter.
No worldly achievement will matter.
What will matter is what we brought with us.
Allah says:
“So whoever does an atom’s weight of good will see it, and whoever does an atom’s weight of evil will see it.”
— Qur’an 99:7–8
May Allah allow us to live with sincere faith, die upon Islam, forgive our shortcomings, accept our deeds, and make our meeting with Him a beautiful one.
Ameen.
