Today, the Dimasa Students' Union (DSU), Karbi Students' Association (Karbi Anglong), Zeme Students' Union, Assam, Hrangkhol Students' Association, Thadou Students' Union, and Khelma Students' Union jointly met the Hon'ble Chief Minister of Assam, Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, at the Assam Legislative Assembly, Guwahati, and submitted a joint memorandum highlighting key concerns affecting the people of Dima Hasao and Karbi Anglong.

The organisations placed the following major demands:
1. Scrapping of Clause 5.1(a) and 5.1(b).

2. Dissolution of Clause 2.1.

3. Immediate establishment of Border Outposts (BoPs) to prevent illegal infiltration from neighbouring conflict-affected states.

4. Proper implementation of Permanent Resident Certificate (PRC) verification and revision of the electoral roll based on authentic land records and other valid documents.

We the student organisations support the development and welfare of all communities. However, we urged the Government to review any provisions that undermine Constitutional safeguards and the rights of indigenous people, warning that such measures could affect the long-standing communal harmony in the region.

We expressed confidence that the Government of Assam will give due consideration to these genuine concerns and take appropriate steps to protect the interests of indigenous communities while ensuring peace, justice, and inclusive development for all.

During the meeting, we submitted a memorandum highlighting key issues affecting Dima Hasao, including the demand to scrap certain unethical and unconstitutional clauses of the MoS signed on 15 March 2026, the early establishment of Border Out Posts (BoPs), verification of household and voter records, and several long-pending educational and developmental demands.

Our major demands included the functioning of the Polytechnic College at Choto Wapu, establishment of Engineering, Medical, Law, Agriculture, and AYUSH Colleges, an Assam University Campus in Haflong, a Women's College, provincialisation of J.B. Hagjer Degree College, filling up vacant teaching and non-teaching posts, and timely disbursement of Post-Matric Scholarships for ST students.

The discussion was positive and constructive, and we remain hopeful that the Government of Assam will take prompt action for the overall development of Dima Hasao.
