This World Coffee Day, we want to highlight the coffee plantations in Mokokchung. APRINS team recently visited this plantation and experienced the process firsthand.

APRINS took part in the 1st Zone Wise Meeting on Business Plans Evaluation and Verification of Compliances of FPOs/FPCs.

This meeting was held under the Mukhya Mantri Utkarsh Yojana (MMUY) 2nd Phase, held at Krishi Bhavan, Directorate of Agriculture campus, Khanapara, Guwahati.

The meeting brought together District Agricultural Officers and representatives of the departments, organisations and agencies that promote FPOs and FPCs across the participating districts.

The focus was on reviewing the business plans of the farmer collectives and verifying their compliance status, which is a key step for taking the 2nd phase of the scheme forward.

We thank the Directorate of Agriculture, Government of Assam, for convening the meeting, and all the officials and partner organisations who took part.

𝐀 𝐥𝐨𝐨𝐤 𝐛𝐚𝐜𝐤 𝐚𝐭 𝐚 𝐦𝐞𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 earlier this year between APRINS's Managing Director, Mr. Chandan Borthakur, and Pu P.C. Vanlalruata, Minister for Agriculture & Farmers' Welfare, Government of Mizoram.

APRINS's ongoing FPC-led work across Mizoram has been aligned with state priorities for the farming sector.

Engagements like this are part of a longer thread of work, not a one-off.

☀️ 𝐇𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐮𝐧, 𝐆𝐫𝐨𝐰𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚 𝐅𝐮𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐁𝐢𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐢𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐚.

At APRINS, we believe that the access to reliable irrigation shouldn't depend on expensive, polluting diesel fuel or complex systems.

Through a United Nations Development Programme - UNDP -funded initiative implemented in partnership with TERI, Techno Village, and Noi Poria FPC, APRINS led an effort in Dhubri, Assam, to transform agricultural irrigation system using clean solar energy:

🌱 700 Hectares under improved irrigation
👨‍🌾 1,048 Farmers benefited (including 602 women farmers)
📉 85–95% Reduction in irrigation costs per season
🚜 Innovations Deployed: Plug-and-play concrete bases, portable push-carts, and boat-mounted solar pumps to reach scattered, remote fields.

With project assets officially handed over to the Noi Poria Farmer Producer Company (FPC), the local community now has full ownership to sustain and build upon this foundation for years to come.

𝐑𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐟 𝐭𝐨 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞: 𝐀 𝐋𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐒𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐍𝐞𝐩𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐡𝐮𝐭𝐢, 𝐒𝐢𝐯𝐬𝐚𝐠𝐚𝐫, 𝐀𝐬𝐬𝐚𝐦.

During the Upper Assam floods, APRINS extended relief support to families who lost more than just property. Many lost their livelihoods overnight.

For APRINS, recovery doesn't end with relief distribution. It was followed through with sustained engagement, guided closely by our Managing Director, to help affected families rebuild in the long term.

One outcome of this continued commitment: Mr. Pradip Pradhan, a flood-affected community member, is now employed with APRINS, a step towards lasting livelihood security, not just short-term aid.
