World Youth Skills Day | Skills That Prepare Youth for Life

On the occasion of World Youth Skills Day, Literacy India Community College, Bajghera, hosted an intensive two-day Career Readiness Workshop, facilitated by Sushant Maheshwari, placing students at the centre of experiential learning.

The workshop brought together learners from diverse vocational programmes and challenged them to think beyond certificates and degrees. Through a series of engaging activities, they discovered what truly makes a person employable—attitude, communication, teamwork, adaptability, critical thinking, and confidence.

Over two engaging days, participants:

🔹 Stepped into the shoes of recruiters through Hiring Role Plays and the Employee Hiring Game, learning how employers evaluate talent.

🔹 Explored career pathways across sectors through the Explore Opportunities and Ice-Land Skill Search activities, understanding emerging industries, required skills, and future growth.

🔹 Solved Mathematical Calculation Challenges that sharpened logical and analytical thinking.

🔹 Participated in the Skill Degree Auction & Income Growth Ladder, discovering how investing in skills can influence long-term career growth and earning potential.

🔹 Connected with fellow learners through Human Bingo, strengthening communication, collaboration, and networking skills.

🔹 Took part in the Tower Challenge, where planning, leadership, creativity, and problem-solving came together under pressure.

At Literacy India, we believe skills are not merely learned—they are experienced, practised, and lived. As industries evolve, it is these life skills, combined with technical knowledge, that empower young people to build meaningful careers and shape a stronger future.

✨ Is it magic... or is it science?

Nearly 300 children across eight Literacy India centres were captivated by a spectacular magic show where amazement met scientific thinking.

As the audience gasped at disappearing coins, standing ropes, colour-changing cards, and a dove emerging from a book, the magician also revealed the science behind selected illusions—showing that great magic is built on observation, psychology, skill, and years of practice.

Wonder sparked curiosity. Curiosity inspired questions. And questions opened the door to science.

Because sometimes, the best way to learn is to be amazed first. 🎩🔬✨

A young boy asked a yogi, "What will I become if I practice yoga?"

The yogi smiled and pointed to a muddy pond.

"Look at the lotus," he said. "It grows in mud, surrounded by water, yet its petals remain clean and beautiful."

The boy replied, "So yoga makes me like a lotus?"

The yogi answered, "No. The lotus was always within you. Yoga simply helps it bloom."

Yoga is not about becoming someone else. It is about becoming the best version of who you already are.

This World Yoga Day, Literacy India celebrated this very spirit across more than 20 centres, engaging over 1,200 children, youth, teachers, trainers, and community members.

Through yoga asanas, pranayama, meditation, and interactive discussions, participants explored yoga not merely as a form of exercise, but as a pathway to physical well-being, mental resilience, emotional balance, and self-discipline. A special focus was placed on breaking the myth that yoga is only about weight loss and highlighting its role in holistic development.

As part of our immersive learning approach, we are committed to nurturing healthy minds alongside learning outcomes. We are grateful to our Partners in Progress, Teleperformance, for organizing a Chair Yoga session for our teachers and trainers, reinforcing the importance of wellness and self-care for those who guide and inspire others every day.

When children learn to breathe better, focus better, and understand themselves better, they are not just practicing yoga—they are building the foundations for a healthier, more confident future.

The summer dust rises outside. The heat sits heavily on small homes and crowded lanes. Childhood often grows quietly here, with little space for surprise.

Then suddenly… there is magic. ✨

At Govt School Iqbalpur, Gurgaon, children spent a day laughing, guessing, clapping, and staring wide-eyed at disappearing cards and impossible tricks — almost like stepping into a little Harry Potter moment of their own. 🪄

Through the GyanTantra & Coding Program supported by Teleperformance India, magician Satish Chaupra brought not just entertainment, but joy, confidence, imagination, and curiosity into the classroom.

Many children had never seen a live magic show before. Their excitement, laughter, and eagerness to volunteer on stage reminded us that sometimes the smallest experiences leave the deepest impact. ❤️

☀️ Heat outside, happy hearts inside!

After a long time, employees from Mastercard led by Ms. Maneet, spent a joyful day with our students filled with stories, learning, creativity, and laughter. 🌸

From the accidental invention of potato chips and saccharin to understanding the importance of ORS during the summer season, students explored the fascinating world of inventions through storytelling and interactive learning.

The session also included fun math challenges, creative bookmark-making, music, and plenty of smiles. Watching students and volunteers learn, create, and laugh together made the day truly special. 💛

Thank you to the Mastercard team for bringing warmth, energy, and happiness to our classrooms despite the scorching summer day.

Today at our Bajghera Campus, the past met the future through colours, stories, and imagination.

On the occasion of International Heritage Day, 100 children of Literacy India joined a special painting session in collaboration with Raahgiri Foundation, with students participating from seven centres—Vidyapeeth, Mullahera, Carterpuri, Dharam Colony, Bijwasan, Chhawla, and Daulatabad.

The session, led by Ms. Banani Bhattacharyya, introduced children to four great ancient civilizations of the world, with special focus on India’s glorious Indus Valley Civilization and the timeless beauty of Harappan motifs. From sacred symbols to geometric patterns, pottery designs to seals, our children discovered how art has always told the story of human life and culture.

They also explored important heritage sites of India, especially in Haryana, learning why preserving archaeological treasures is a responsibility we owe future generations.

Through rock painting and pot painting, students recreated echoes of ancient caves, settlements, and Harappan-inspired art forms with their own fresh creativity. Every colour carried history. Every design reflected pride in our roots.

Certificates were awarded to all participants, while 24 outstanding artworks were recognized for their imagination and presentation.

At Literacy India, education goes beyond classrooms. It connects children to identity, heritage, and the confidence to create a brighter tomorrow.

☀️ Sun Up Close – A Classroom Under the Sky

Sometimes the best science lesson is simply looking up.

Our students recently explored our nearest star — the Sun — in a special activity called “Sun Up Close.” The session introduced them to how the Sun sits at the center of our Solar System and powers life on Earth.

They discovered the incredible process of Nuclear Fusion, where hydrogen atoms combine deep inside the Sun to release the energy that reaches us as sunlight.

The most exciting moment came when students observed the Sun through a telescope fitted with special solar safety filters. With guidance, they learned how scientists safely align a telescope for daytime solar observation.

Peering through the telescope, students identified and counted Sunspots—dark patches created by strong magnetic activity on the Sun’s surface. What looked like tiny marks opened a conversation about solar activity and how scientists study space weather.

The discussion even travelled billions of years ahead, when the Sun will eventually expand into a Red Giant and later settle into a White Dwarf, part of the natural life cycle of stars.

The best part? The questions.

“How do scientists know what is inside the Sun?”
“How long does sunlight take to reach Earth?”
“Can astronauts go close to the Sun?”

When curiosity shines, learning follows.

On the occasion of International Women's Day, young girls at Literacy India offered a special salute to the aviation sector — not with words, but with art.

With careful hands and bright imagination, they painted an aircraft model, turning it into a small tribute to the world of flight. For these girls, the aircraft was not just an object; it was a symbol of possibility, courage, and dreams that travel beyond boundaries.

Through moments like these, learning moves beyond books. It opens windows to new worlds — where girls begin to imagine themselves as pilots, engineers, designers, and innovators.

At Literacy India, we believe that when young minds are given the space to create, dream, and explore, they begin to see that no sky is out of reach.

🚀 When Curiosity Orbits Higher Than Satellites

On National Science Day, as the nation honoured C. V. Raman, eight young minds from Literacy India, Mullahera chose to celebrate in the best way possible — by building.

At “TASK 2026,” organized by Way for Life in collaboration with KPMG, our students presented two innovative models:

🔹 Satellite Collision Alert System
🔹 Emergency Satellite Communication System

🏆 The Satellite Collision Alert System team emerged as Winners.

Sweta led with an idea sparked in her science classroom. Then the team did what young innovators do best — they tinkered, questioned, tested, reworked, and built together. Their clarity of concept, teamwork, and confidence won the jury’s appreciation — and more importantly, strengthened the science ecosystem at our centre.

At Literacy India, STEM is not about rote learning. It is about thinking beyond the textbook, building with your hands, and daring to imagine solutions for the future.

India’s strength lies in her curious children. Give them tools. Give them trust. They will build the rest.
