Assam Legislative Assembly Election 2026: Important Dates Announced:

The schedule for the General Election to the Legislative Assembly of Assam (all 126 constituencies) has been officially announced.

As responsible citizens, it is important for everyone to be aware of the key dates of the election process and participate actively in strengthening democracy.

Key Dates:
• Issue of Gazette Notification: 16 March 2026
• Last Date for Filing Nominations: 23 March 2026
• Scrutiny of Nominations: 24 March 2026
• Last Date for Withdrawal of Candidatures: 26 March 2026
• Date of Poll: 9 April 2026

The flagging off ceremony of the Kamakhya–Charlapalli Amrit Bharat Express was attended at Gossaigaon Hat Railway Station.

Mizanur Rahman (President, Green Leaf Foundation, Gossaigaon) attended the programme along with Kanhaiya Choudhary (Joint Secretary) and Nazmul Hoque (Joint Secretary – Inclusive Education) following an invitation from the Northeast Frontier Railway, Alipurduar Division.

During the ceremony, the loco pilots of the newly launched train were felicitated in recognition of their dedicated service.
The introduction of this train is expected to strengthen rail connectivity between the Northeast and other parts of India.

The Participation in Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC) Meeting Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Kokrajhar

I attended the Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC) Meeting of Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Kokrajhar on 18 February 2026 at 9:30 AM at the KVK Conference Hall, Telipara, Gossaigaon, Kokrajhar. I participated in the meeting in my capacity as President of Green Leaf Foundation, Gossaigaon, representing the NGO sector as an Executive Member of the Committee.

The meeting reviewed the annual progress, extension activities, frontline demonstrations, capacity building programmes, and impact on farmers during the previous year. The future plan of action for 2026–27 was also discussed, with emphasis on improving outreach, technology transfer, and convergence with line departments.

The meeting was chaired by Dr. Manoranjan Neog, Director of Extension Education, Assam Agricultural University, Jorhat. Among the key participants were Shri Kuntal Purkayastha, District Development Manager, NABARD; Dr. Kameswar Das, Head i/c, Zonal Research Station, AAU, Kokrajhar; officials from the Departments of Agriculture, Veterinary, Fishery, Irrigation and Sericulture; progressive farmers; and representatives of other stakeholder institutions.

During the deliberations, I placed the following suggestions and proposals for consideration:
1. Establishment of an Additional Model Village in Gossaigaon Sub-Division
2. Focused Scheme for Promotion of Fish Farming in Rural Areas
3. Strengthening of Technical Manpower at KVK, Kokrajhar
4. Convergence with Grassroots Organizations

The discussions were constructive and focused on enhancing productivity, income diversification, and sustainable agricultural practices for farmers, farm women and rural youth of Kokrajhar district.

The meeting concluded with a commitment to strengthen field-level interventions, expand outreach in underserved areas, and improve institutional coordination for inclusive agricultural development.

A memorandum was formally submitted to the General Manager of Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) yesterday during his official visit to Gossaigaon for a site inspection.

The memorandum was led by Sri Bandan Deb, Advisor of Green Leaf Foundation and Vice Chairman of GONJUM Trust. He was accompanied by Sri Nazmul Hoque, Joint Secretary (Inclusive Education); Sri Kanhaiya Choudhary, Joint Secretary (Communication); and well-wishers of Green Leaf Foundation including Sri Sankar Ghosh, Sri Ajay Choudhary, and others. The delegation placed before the General Manager key public concerns related to railway services and stoppages, particularly highlighting the long-standing demand for improved train connectivity at Gossaigaon to benefit students, patients, daily commuters, and the business community of the region.

We sincerely hope that the concerned authorities will give due consideration to the genuine demands raised in the memorandum and take necessary steps in the interest of the people.

🇮🇳 Observance of Birth Anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose 🇮🇳

On 23 January 2026, Green Leaf Foundation, Gossaigaon, in collaboration with MERA YUVA BHARAT, Kokrajhar District, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, organised the Birth Anniversary observance of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose at 470 No. Palashguri LP School, Gossaigaon, Kokrajhar.

The programme aimed to honour Netaji’s legacy and instil values of patriotism, courage, discipline, and national unity among students. The event began with a floral tribute, followed by reflections on Netaji’s life and contribution to India’s freedom struggle.

An Art Competition was organised with enthusiastic participation of 41 students from 8 schools (approx. 66 beneficiaries), providing a creative platform for young minds to express their understanding of nationalism and freedom. Prizes and certificates were distributed to the winners and all participants.

We are grateful to all respected guests, teachers, judges, staffs, volunteers, and school authorities for their valuable support. The active participation of students and the community made the programme meaningful and impactful.
Netaji’s ideals continue to inspire the next generation.

Memorandum Submitted to DC, Kokrajhar

On 28 January 2026, Green Leaf Foundation, Gossaigaon formally submitted a memorandum to the District Commissioner, Kokrajhar, through the Sub-Divisional Officer (Civil), Gossaigaon, raising serious concerns related to the ongoing Special Revision (SR) of Electoral Rolls and issues affecting genuine voters.

The submission programme was led by the president, Green Leaf Foundation, Gossaigaon, and was accompanied by the following members of Green Leaf Foundation, Adv. Sahidul Islam, Legal Secretary; Adv. Abdus Salam Miah, Human Rights Secretary; Adv. Jahurul Islam, Secretary, Social Justice & Empowerment and Azizul Hoque, Office Assistant (Legal Support).

Through this memorandum, we have sought immediate administrative intervention to ensure that the electoral process remains free, fair, lawful, and free from arbitrary actions that may disenfranchise genuine voters.
We sincerely hope that the district administration will take timely and appropriate steps in the interest of justice, democracy, and constitutional values.

Memorandum Submitted to DRM, Alipurduar Division (NFR)

Green Leaf Foundation, Gossaigaon has formally submitted a memorandum to the Divisional Railway Manager, Alipurduar Division, Northeast Frontier Railway, highlighting long-pending public demands related to railway connectivity in Gossaigaon and adjoining areas.
The memorandum was submitted at Kokrajhar through Shri Arunabh Dev Sharma, Member, Divisional Railway Users’ Consultative Committee (DRUCC), Alipurduar Division.

The memorandum raises key issues including
• Restoration of discontinued train services
• Introduction of MEMU/EMU passenger services
• Additional stoppages at Gossaigaon Hat Railway Station
• Early completion of Gossaigaon Hat Railway Station under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme
These demands reflect the genuine needs of students, daily commuters, farmers, traders, patients, and border-area residents who depend heavily on rail connectivity.

We hope the Northeast Frontier Railway authorities will give due consideration and take timely action in the larger public interest.
