Project Swarajya It came into existence in mid-1988 in the midst of a country-wide movement for making Right to Work a fundamental right in the Constitution of India.

PROJECT SWARAJYA Organisation Mission to empower the women and other marginalized and weaker sections of the society such as Scheduled Castes, Scheduled tribes, Other Backward classes, minorities, disabled and destitutes for their effective participation. PROJECT SWARAJYA is a non-profit making, non-party, pluralistic and open-ended platform that underlines the need for debate, discussion and dialogue among the concerned key players to tackle the complex human rights issues that the society is confronted with. Besides this campaign it also then took up the particular demand of legislating and implementing Employment Guarantee Act for rural unskilled labour in Orissa along Maharastra lines. Orissa being a predominantly rural-tribal society, the women in villages who among others have been marginalized due to one-sided development programmes needed most of all guarantee of job round the year by the State a thing which has been experimented since mid-70s in Maharastra. Fortunately enough, after a lapse of a decade and half, the Common Minimum Programme of the present UPA Government at the Centre has given a definite assurance to legislate a National Employment Guarantee Act for the whole country. The Organisation has happily prepared itself to conduct a campaign of earlier type for ensuring the foolproof pro-people orientation to the promised legislation.

Internship Completion at IRCA, Cuttack

Project Swarajya is pleased to share that five students from the Department of Philosophy, J.K.B.K. Government College, Cuttack, have successfully completed their internship at the Integrated Rehabilitation Centre for Addicts (IRCA), Cuttack.

During the internship, the students gained valuable practical exposure, developed a better understanding of rehabilitation services, and learned about the role of community-based support in addressing substance use and promoting social well-being.

We sincerely appreciate the cooperation of the Department of Philosophy, J.K.B.K. Government College, and the academic guidance of Mr. Debadutta Mishra, Head of the Department of Philosophy. We also acknowledge the supervision and mentorship provided by Mr.Prasant Dalbehera,Project Coordinator, Mr. Prassana Mohanty, Counselor and staff member of Project Swarajya.

Project Swarajya believes that such academic collaborations help bridge the gap between classroom learning and practical experience while encouraging students to develop empathy, social responsibility, and a commitment to community service.

Together, we are fostering learning, awareness, and a more compassionate society.

DEBATE COMPETITION
Topic: “Freedom in Gopabandhu’s Vision”

On 4 October 2026 (Sunday), from 9:30 AM to 1:00 PM, Project Swarajya & New Vision Foundation organised a debate competition at Gandhi Bhawan, Cuttack. Students from different schools, colleges, and universities participated and presented their views on the theme “Freedom in Gopabandhu’s Vision.”

The programme provided a meaningful platform for young minds to express their ideas, develop critical thinking, and reflect on the ideals and vision of Utkalmani Gopabandhu Das.

The event was graced by Chitta Ranjan Mohanty, President, Project Swarajya; Dalli Dash, Secretary, Project Swarajya; Bikram Keshari Barik, Chairman, New Vision Foundation; Nafisa Begam, Secretary, New Vision Foundation; and Prof. Debashis, Ravenshaw University, along with the dedicated staff members of Project Swarajya and New Vision Foundation.

The active participation and enthusiasm of students from different schools, colleges, and universities made the programme meaningful and engaging. Their thoughtful presentations and diverse perspectives reflected the spirit of young minds learning, questioning, and expressing themselves.

Today, the Hon’ble Collector & District Magistrate and the District Social Welfare Officer (DSWO) visited Shakti Sadan and interacted with the beneficiaries and staff.

Their interaction provided an opportunity to understand the experiences, needs, and well-being of the beneficiaries, while also appreciating the dedicated efforts of the staff.

I am fortunate to be a part of the Dhwani Foundation’s Fundraising Training for Saksham Partners at CIWA and grateful for the opportunity to share my 13 months of fundraising and donor engagement journey with Project Swarajya.

It was a wonderful experience to interact with fellow development-sector professionals, share our experiences, learn from others, and reflect on the challenges and opportunities in resource mobilisation.
