Sabal Naari Foundation was founded in 2015 in Allahabad, Eastern Uttar Pradesh. 'Sabal' and 'Naari' in Hindi mean 'to strenghthen' and 'woman' respectively. And that's what we precisely intend to do. A woman in India is r***d every 20 mins! That means that within the next hour 3 women will be r***d in India. That’s a serious issue and it needs our attention
Women in India are feeling unsafe and sc
ared. They are making small lifestyle changes because they don’t have options
The law and order fails to protect them. The government and our leaders corrupt and people in general don’t careThe current system is ineffective and inefficient. There is a fragmented market for personal safety products and women rely on the inefficient judicial system to protect them.Women lack awareness and the resources to protect themselves and be responsible for their own safety. We as a organization want to make the woman 'sabal' again by arming her with pepper spray, self-defense training and legal awareness. We want to equip women with safe, reliable and affordable self-defense tools like pepper sprays, to protect themselves. We want to educate and train women on how to use these products to stay alert, aware and away from danger. We want to support open conversations with boys and men to bring about a fundamental shift in how violence against women is perceived. We aim at bringing about a change in the mindset of people at the grass-root level about stopping victim-blaming and shifting the onus of the crime from the victim to the perpetrator. We want to make women legally aware of their rights and the laws that exist to protect them. We help women take responsibility of their own safety and not rely on others.
