Livnot U'Lehibanot

Livnot U'Lehibanot A holistic Israel experience connecting participants to their heritage & Jewish community through an open environment.

Our programs & retreats strengthen identity through hiking, education, service, and meaningful interactions with local Israelis. Livnot runs programs for young Jewish adults primarily from North America. Livnot offers participants the opportunity to experience Israel differently by engaging young Jewish. Together the participants explore the options of a Jewish community while discovering Jewish I

dentity-building tools. The program's volunteering includes excavating in the Old City of Tzfat, painting apartments of the elderly, visiting Ethiopian Absorption Centers, activities in the local Old Age home and more. Participants hike the land, exploring the connection between Judaism and nature. In addition, there are varied workshops and learning sessions based on Jewish texts. Most participants in the program have minimal Jewish background.

The Torah is often compared to milk — “Honey and milk are under your tongue.”

In Kabbalah, and especially in the teachings of the Arizal who lived here in Tzfat, milk is connected to chesed: abundance flowing freely and lovingly from above to below, nourishing and helping us grow.

On Shavuot, when we taste cheese in general — and Tzfat cheese in particular — we’re tasting something deeper too: “Your Torah is within me.” 🧀🤍

Chag Shavuot Sameach 🌾

Lag BaOmer marks a turning point

after loss
something begins again

Rabbi Akiva started over with just a few students
and from there, everything continued

That idea feels very present right now

As we move toward rebuilding
in Israel
and in our own lives

Lag BaOmer Sameach from Tzfat 🔥

Last night, our campus filled up again.

Dozens of soldiers came through. Some we’re hosting, some just returned from Lebanon, others are stationed here in the North.

We put together a full barbecue with great food, live music, and a sunset over Mount Meron.

This is what our soldiers deserve.
A place to eat well, breathe, and feel taken care of, even for a night.

We will keep showing up for them in the ways we know best.

None of this happens without our donors. Many of you are thousands of miles away and still finding ways to support your brothers and sisters in the IDF.

We are proud to do our part.

Swipe for moments from last night ❤️

Israel is still at war 💥
Soldiers are protecting our communities around the clock.

At Livnot, we are here for the in-between. We give them a place to rest, eat, and recharge before they head back out.

יזכור

From a letter written by an IDF soldier on his way to base:

“I’m writing you this message on the way to the base. If you’re reading this, something must have happened to me. As you know about me, probably no one is happier than me right now.

I’m mamash on the verge of fulfilling my dream soon. I’m happy and grateful for the zechus (merit) I have to defend our beautiful country and Am Yisrael.

Even if something happens to me, I don’t allow you to sink into sorrow. I had the zechus to fulfill my dream and my mission and you can be sure that I’m looking down on you and smiling a huge smile. I will probably sit next to Saba and we’ll make up for lost time – we’ll each tell about our experiences and what changed from war to war. Maybe we’ll also talk a little about politics, I’ll ask him what his opinion is.”

— Ben Zussman ז״ל,
killed in battle in Gaza, December 2023.

Today, we remember him,
and the more than 30,000 soldiers and victims of terror who have fallen in defense of Israel.

May their memory be a blessing 🕯️

Tonight - we honor the fallen, together. 8 pm Israel time, 10 PT and 1 pm ET. Join us.
