WACT operates out of New Ross, Co. Wexford.

WACT Youth Theatre work with young people, providing professionally led weekly drama workshops.
,
• 14+ years shaping young minds, encouraging students to express creativity. WACT opened its doors in 2012, and ever since has been dedicated to developing life skills in young people through theatre experiences that educate, entertain and enrich their lives. WACT is unique to New Ross as we are the only Youth Theatre and attract young people from more rural areas. WACT promotes communication skills, teamwork, and socialisation by stimulating the imagination and creativity. WACT offers professionally led weekly drama workshops and quality arts experience, bringing elements of play, humour and laughter to those taking part to improve motivation and reduces stress. As affiliate members of Youth Theatre Ireland our members can join the Young Critics programme, audition for the National Youth Theatre Ensemble, Take part in the National Festival of Youth Theatres and travel to see other youth theatre productions. All our tutors are an established group of Youth Artists and Youth Workers working on an ongoing basis.

What is a child's first drama class really about?
It isn't about being the best actor in the room.
It isn't about standing up and performing in front of everyone.
And it definitely isn't about getting everything right.
A first drama class is about trying.
Trying a game.
Trying an idea.
Trying a character.
Trying something that feels a little bit outside their comfort zone.
Some children will jump straight in.
Others will watch first.
Both are completely okay.
At WACT Youth Theatre, we want children to have the space to discover their confidence, use their imagination and, most importantly, find their voice.

WACT would like to say a very special farewell to Lyla as she graduates from her time in youth theatre and sets off on her next adventure to college. Lyla has been a dedicated member performing many times. She was instrumental in our D&D campaigns and throws herself into every challenge. Mostly WACT are grateful for her kindness towards others, her willingness to help out and her fun and free approach to improv. We will miss you Lyla, best of luck on your new adventures and don't be a stranger! This message goes out to all of our past members, so many young people have passed through our doors and we welcome any past member who fancies a visit and a bit of improv to pop in for a visit anytime! We would be delighted to see you. We are especially looking forward to an exciting revamp of the greenroom in St Michaels Theatre and we will be back in September after a lovely Summer break

Huge thanks to Youth Theatre Ireland, Creative Ireland and an extra special thank you to playwright Mary Benzies for writing Frank Lee Speaking and making it available on Playshare. WACT have thoroughly enjoyed rehearsing and performing this wonderful play for Cruinniú na nÓg as part of the Youth Theatre Island project for Cruinniú na nÓg 2026. The venue was The Riverbank Arts Centre, Newbridge, Co. Kildare.
WACT performed alongside Members of Explore Youth Theatre, Fifth Element N.I. and Dreamstuff Youth Theatre. We were thrilled to watch other youth theatres perform and were inspired by the creativity and opportunity to make new connections on the day.
