Celebrating those who serve our communities 🇮🇪 ⛑️🆘️🚑🦺👮‍♂️

The RNLI will be joining emergency, frontline and voluntary services across Ireland for National Services Day on Saturday 5 September.

It’s a day to Celebrate, Commemorate and Inspire – recognising the incredible people who give their time to keep our communities safe, remembering those who have lost their lives serving others, and inspiring the next generation of volunteers.

RNLI volunteers will be taking part in events across Ireland, including Dublin, Cork, Limerick, Wexford, Galway, Naas, Kilkenny and Drogheda.

We’d love to see you there! Come along, meet the people behind the services that help keep our communities safe, and find out more about the work of the RNLI and our fellow emergency and voluntary services.

National Services Day 2026 was officially launched today and takes place in Wexford on Saturday 5th September on Wexford Quay, a day to celebrate the incredible people who serve, protect and support communities across Ireland.

National Services day place in Dublin, Naas, Wexford, Limerick, Kilkenny, Drogheda, Cork and Galway.

Is your name Dave? Could you be the next volunteer with Wexford Lifeboat? We are open to new volunteer crew at the moment and if your name is Dave then it might be for you as there's something about Dave on Wexford Lifeboat!

For example, today our newest lifeboat volunteer Dave Robinson completed his first afloat exercise today. Dave was joined by Dave and Dave and ashore Dave. All of today's team are named Dave and we've two more Daves aswell 😅

Water Safety Ireland, Irish Coast Guard, and RNLI are urging swimmers, visitors, and holidaymakers to take extra care around the coast this Bank Holiday weekend and to familiarise themselves with local conditions before entering the water

If you see somebody in trouble on the water or along the coast or think that they are in trouble, use marine VHF radio Ch 16 or dial 999 or 112 and ask for the Coast Guard
