Slane Tidy Towns

Slane Tidy Towns Great things are achieved by a series of small things brought together!

Slane Tidy Towns is calling on all residents to help us maintain and improve our lovely Village! Tidy Towns is a great example of how a public-private partnership can work to the benefit of all in our society. The Tidy Towns competition has been encouraging community effort for over half a century and even in its 55th year the competition is still growing and getting stronger. Last year was a fant

astic year for Tidy Towns with 821 cities, towns and villages throughout Ireland entering the competition. The competition is a catalyst for a huge amount of voluntary effort in towns and villages across the country and the effort of hundreds of Tidy Towns committees and thousands of volunteers not only improves the environment in which we live but also helps to build pride in our localities. Tidy Towns may be a competition but, as you all know only too well, it is much more than that; it is about participation, joint effort, getting out there and working together. It gives people a greater sense of involvement in their community and a greater sense of responsibility towards their community. It is also an experience that people enjoy, not only for the sense of accomplishment in getting things done, the sense of contribution in giving back to the community but also the friendships that are made along the way.

Have Your Say: Irelandโ€™s Water Future

Ireland is preparing its next Water Action Plan (2028โ€“2033) โ€” and your voice matters.

Every six years, EU Member States review and update plans to protect and improve our water environment. As part of this process, a public consultation is now open on the Significant Water Management Issues (SWMI) affecting our rivers, lakes, and coastal waters.

This consultation helps identify the key challenges and pressures on our water quality โ€” and will directly shape the actions and measures included in the next Water Action Plan.

We want to hear from you
- Share your views on the issues identified
- Highlight any additional concerns
- Help inform solutions for protecting Irelandโ€™s water environment

Complete the short online questionnaire or submit your feedback by email or post. You can respond to as many or as few questions as you like up to the deadline of 5pm, 19 June 2026. ๐Ÿ‘‰https://ow.ly/amiM50Z64z3

By taking part, youโ€™ll play a role in shaping how Ireland protects and manages its water for years to come.
