A great way to responsibly dispose of large items at half the cost 🙌

♻️ There will be a 50% reduction on the price of disposal of bulky goods such as mattresses, furniture, etc from 27th of June to the 11th of July at Cavan County Council Civic Amenity Centres at Corranure, Ballyconnell, and Bailieborough. Funded under the Anti-Dumping Initiative 2026.

🐕🧏‍♂️ Dog owners and those responsible for dogs🧏‍♀️🐕‍🦺

Now that many of the footpaths are washed (and looking great, we must add!), we are appealing to all dog owners and those responsible for dogs, to PICK UP YOUR DOG'S LITTER 🐕💩

We work hard to get grants to do this work, so play your part and be responsible for your animal.

📲You can report dog fouling in confidence/anonymously to Cavan Co Co (details in the comments below).

If you require dog litter bags, pick them up on the 'back road' where there is also a dog litter bin, or DM us and we can make them available for free.

📣📣 Attention 📣📣

Power washing of the footpaths will take place over the next few days within the town core 🙌

This project will make an immediate and positive impact in our town 😎

With thanks to Cavan County Council for partially funding this work under the Municipal District fund. We'll also use funding awarded to us from our national Gum Litter Award 2025 to complete the costs of these works 🙌

Today we mark World Swift Day.

Swifts are red listed birds that require urgent protection measures to make sure they don't become extinct.

Two locations within Shercock were recorded as nesting sites in the 2025 Swift Survey of East Cavan. Are we the lucky ones!

We are also lucky to have four Swift nest boxes purchased through a biodiversity grant in 2025 but we are struggling to find a responsible contractor to install them. If you know anyone who could help us with this, get in touch! 📲📧

💫Community Clean up

A big thanks to everyone for playing their part in the community clean up this week 🙌

✅Biodiversity planting at the Recycle Centre
✅ Rehabilitating young trees that were badly damaged by hedgecutting here also
✅ Welcoming more participants to our Community in Colour scheme with lovely displays of flowers on the Main St, in particular
✅ Maintaining the flower beds at the Welcome signs
✅ Trimming hedging around the Fairhill

📣📣 Inclusive bins at the Recycle Centre📣📣

As part of our ongoing accessibility work, we recently contacted Cavan Co Co to flag how the bins at the Recycle Centre were not accessible for all 🤔

We are encouraged by their response and now know they are actively pursuing solutions to this issue 🙌

For our community, more people will be able to responsibly recycle and play their part in making Shercock a better place for everyone to live, work and enjoy 🙌
