Jim Fee (visual artist and facilitator, Dowra)

Who is it for?
Beginners and anyone interested in trying basic hand-building techniques in a friendly, supportive setting. No previous experience needed.

What you will learn?
Over four weekly sessions you will be introduced to core hand-building methods in pottery:
Coiling – building forms by rolling and stacking clay coils
Using formas/moulds – shaping clay over or into simple forms
Slab building – constructing pieces from rolled-out sheets of clay
Colour application and glazing – basic surface decoration and glaze introduction
You’ll develop confidence in handling clay, using simple tools, and finishing your pieces for firing.
What you will make
You will create several small hand-built pieces during the course and take home at least three kiln-fired pots at the end.

Jim Fee is a visual artist and facilitator based near Blacklion, Co. Cavan. With an MA in Fine Art and a background in education, he has been running creative, community-focused art and pottery projects across the Border region since moving to Ireland in 2001. Creative Writing Workshop

Discover, develop and share your writing in this welcoming six-week Creative Writing Workshop with poet and facilitator Paddy Donoghue. Suitable for adults of all levels, from complete beginners to those already writing, this course offers a supportive space to explore ideas, experiment with different forms, and build confidence in your own creative voice.

Over the six weeks, participants will work across a range of genres and techniques, including poetry, six-word stories, mini sagas, short stories, dialogue, character and setting. Through practical writing exercises, examples and group discussion, you will be encouraged to try new approaches and shape your ideas into finished pieces of writing.

The aim of the course is for every participant to produce work in each of the genres explored. At the end of the workshop, participants’ finished writing will be brought together in a published collection. This will be celebrated with a social launch evening, giving participants the opportunity to read from their work and share their achievement with family, friends and the wider community.

Paddy Donoghue is a widely published poet, originally from Glencolmcille and now living in Bundoran. He was named Donegal Bealtaine Poet in 2025 and has facilitated writing workshops throughout Donegal and the North West. His poetry collection Leave Taking was shortlisted for the CAP Awards in 2025, and his haiku collection, Gathering of Haiku, was published in July 2026. Paddy is also the founder of Bundoran Writers Group and Atlantic Writers Ink.
