A big thank you to the gentlemen in Rathkeale and District Community Men’s Shed who had a warm welcome for SICAP staff yesterday. Some planning for the autumn taking place with the Shed members, to keep them busy. A sample of their super woodwork skills below. A gifted bunch of fellows and a pleasure to work with.

Mens Sheds offer a wide range of activities and supports and are vital community spaces. Rathkeale is a prime example of this.

Further information on Sheds is available on https://menssheds.ie/
or from the SICAP team, email to [email protected] or call 0876750869 if you require any support in setting up a Shed in the West Limerick area.

✨ Askeaton is positively GLOWing✨

We were delighted to kick off our GLOWing programme in Askeaton Community Centre this week. Participants enjoyed a fun and energising fitness session, followed by a healthy snack and plenty of time to chat and connect.

A highlight of the day was Makeup Artist Jenny Ring's makeup demonstration, where everyone picked up great tips and had the opportunity to ask questions and learn new skills. It was wonderful to see so much engagement, laughter, and support throughout the session.

GLOWing is all about Growth, Lifestyle, Opportunity and Wellbeing, and week one was a great start to building confidence, connection, and positive wellbeing within the community. We can't wait for the weeks ahead!

GLOWing is in Partnership with Limerick Sports Partnership and Limerick Youth Service AND HSE Mid West. Supported by SICAP.

MACE Community Grants 2026

MACE has launched the second year of our MACE Community Grants initiative where we invite local groups and clubs across Ireland to apply for a share of a €50,000 fund designed to support projects that make a positive difference in their communities.

The campaign will award fifty grants of €1,000 each to community organisations, supporting projects that make a positive and lasting difference at a local level.

This is the second year of our largest community initiative and builds on a very successful inaugural year that saw widespread participation from local groups and retailer engagement across the MACE network.

Fronted by MACE brand ambassador and former Ireland rugby captain Johnny Sexton, this year’s campaign features a series of videos showcasing three of last year’s grant recipients and the tangible impact the funding has had in their communities.

Applications open on 20 August and close on 10 September.
