SECAD Partnership CLG - SECAD

13/10/2026

👋 Our SECAD SICAP Employment Support Team was delighted to attend the 𝑫𝑺𝑷 𝑹𝒆𝒄𝒓𝒖𝒊𝒕𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕 & 𝑻𝒓𝒂𝒊𝒏𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑭𝒂𝒊𝒓 𝒊𝒏 𝑴𝒂𝒄𝒓𝒐𝒐𝒎 this morning!

The event was very well attended and provided a great opportunity for jobseekers at all stages of their employment journey to explore opportunities, gather information and access support.

Local employers from the food, healthcare and engineering sectors were there, along with JobsIreland and support organisations including Cork Education and Training Board , Department of Social Protection , EmployAbility, Turas Nua, IRD Duhallow and SECAD.

It was lovely to meet so many people, catch up with existing clients and chat about how SECAD can help them take their next steps towards employment. 😊

Our team shared information about free employment support, job skills training and upcoming workshops, including "𝗥𝗲𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝗔𝗳𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗮 𝗦𝗲𝘁𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸" taking place in 𝗠𝗮𝗰𝗿𝗼𝗼𝗺 𝗼𝗻 𝟮𝟴 𝗢𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗯𝗲𝗿, as well as offering practical advice and encouragement.

👏 Many thanks to the organisers for bringing together so many valuable opportunities and supports for local jobseekers!

✨ 𝗔 𝗯𝗶𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗸 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 Local Development Companies Network 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗮 𝗳𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰 𝘁𝘄𝗼 𝗱𝗮𝘆𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗖𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗸!

It was great to come together with colleagues from Local Development Companies across Ireland, exchange ideas, learn from each other and celebrate the work happening in communities around the country.

From rural development and climate action to social inclusion, local economies, belonging and community resilience, there was plenty to reflect on and take back to our work at SECAD.

The conference concluded with an address from An Taoiseach, Micheál Martin, who spoke about the unique role of Local Development Companies as a bridge between national ambition and local delivery – turning policy and investment into meaningful action in communities across Ireland.

He also recognised the need for continued investment in community development so that Local Development Companies can keep supporting communities, strengthening resilience and responding to changing local needs.

👏 Thank you to everyone who organised, contributed to and took part in such an engaging two days. We came away with new ideas, new connections and plenty of inspiration for the work ahead.
