It was with great sadness to hear of the passing of Mike Long Asdee. Mike was known for his favourite party piece ‘Will we get married in the morning’ that he often sang at our Rambling House. He became a regular face over the last 12 months and was a great entertainer. We will miss him and his entertaining performances here at the centre. Our sympathies to all his family and friends, his fellow entertainers at Clounmacon Rambling House.

💃 BACK BY POPULAR DEMAND – DANCE WITH BRIDIE! 💃

We’re delighted to welcome Dance with Bridie back to Clounmacon Community Centre with her fantastic Line Dancing Classes! 🎶👢

Join us on Wednesday, September 30th at 7pm for a fun, relaxed one-hour line dance class suitable for all levels — whether you’ve never line danced before or you’ve been dancing for years!

We’ll be learning a mix of Irish country, American country, modern music and a few fun surprises along the way! 🎶

👢 Beginners welcome
👫 No partner needed
🙋‍♀️ Men & women welcome
🎉 Young & old — everyone is welcome!

After the beginners/all-levels class, we’ll have time for Intermediate class for those who fancy a little more of a challenge, with more advanced dances and and a little faster paced. Numbers depending.

If you’ve never been before, you might be wondering what a Rambling House is all about…

🪗 Local musicians and singers sharing their talents

The Rambling House tradition is all about people coming together to share music, songs, stories and conversation — keeping our culture and local traditions alive.

You don’t have to sing, play or perform — you’re more than welcome to simply come along, sit back and enjoy the night.

We would like to express our deepest sympathies to Bridie Gorman’s family.

Bridie has made a significant contribution to Clounmacon Community Centre over many years. She was the founder of the ICA back in the day and served many years on the Clounmacon Community Centre Committee, including her role as treasurer, she helped with the day-to-day running and development of the centre.
She played an important role in organising community events, social gatherings and activities that brought people of all ages together. Bridie contributed to the preservation of the centre as a focal point for the Clounmacon community, supporting fundraising efforts and community initiatives over many years.
In late 2023, Bridie was formally honoured on her retirement from the Community Centre Committee, in recognition of her many years of dedicated service. The presentation acknowledged the commitment and countless voluntary hours she gave to the community.

A guard of honour will take place on Friday morning at 9.40am at the community centre as she passes the place she gave so much time for.

Throwback to last September at Clounmacon Community Centre 🎉

What an incredible milestone for Clounmacon Community Centre as we celebrate 50 years at the heart of our community! 💛

Over the decades, the centre has been a place where friendships were formed, memories were made, and the community came together through every generation. Today, thanks to the continued support of our local community, dedicated volunteers, and everyone who has played a part along the way, the centre is thriving more than ever.

With the recent renovations, Clounmacon Community Centre has truly been given a new lease of life. The refreshed space reflects the energy, spirit, and pride of the people who make this community so special.

Our 50-year celebrations were a fantastic success, with people coming together to enjoy the occasion, reconnect with friends and neighbours, and celebrate the wonderful history and future of the centre. It was a day filled with laughter, stories, music, and community spirit — a reminder of just how important this place is to so many.

A huge thank you to everyone who helped organise the celebrations, contributed to the renovations, volunteered their time, and continues to support the centre in so many ways. The future is bright for Clounmacon Community Centre, and we look forward to many more years of community, connection, and celebration together.

Here’s to the next 50 years! 🥂✨
