Beware of strangers bearing gifts!

We previously posted regarding Orsted objecting to rural housing in Co. Tipperary in 2025. Tipperary Co Council granted planning permission for construction of a dwelling, garage and all associated works. Orsted appealed this decision to An Coimisiun Pleanala. This decision has been reversed by ACP.

We are saying it all the time, nothing to stop Orsted or any company like them doing the exact same in any spot in rural Ireland if it doesn't suit!

Beware of strangers bearing gifts!

See below details of a BESS fire in Nothinghamshire, UK which occurred just a few days ago. Paul Christensen, a Lithium-ion battery safety expert in the UK, has raised his concerns in relation to fire safety at BESS locations.

See comments for a link to the BBC article. Limited details are noted which seems to be a huge issue - media are slow to report on any fires relating to "renewable energy" infrastructure, in particular fires relating to Battery Energy Storage Systems. It is no different here in Ireland.

Orsted sold us down the swanny and is now known as Perigus. Interesting to note that the latin word Perigus means dangerous. Maybe they are referring to battery storage and the dangers of lithium ion batteries. Let's put solar on every roof in Ireland where it belongs before wasting prime agricultural land on this. Land that can feed us. Now more than ever we need to be self sufficient and this includes renewables but not at the price of losing good land forever.

Cork now a global hub for wind and solar innovation and investment
