Look who popped up as Grand Marshal of the Ballinrobe parade yesterday. Great honour for a great lady. Well deserved recognition for all the work she's done to promote the heritage of the town.

95 years ago this week, Harry Clarke died aged just 41, but his legacy lives on. We are blessed in Ballinrobe to have one of the largest collections of Harry Clarke windows in the country with 19 of his lights (panels) and 4 by his father, Joshua Clarke in the Mortuary Chapel)

During Heritage Week (2025) we launched a QR code tour of the windows. Visitors to St Mary's Church, Ballinrobe (F31 YA29) can now take a self-guided tour of the windows. The QR codes link to pages on the Historical Ballinrobe website (www.historicalballinrobe.org) with detailed information about each panel. https://www.historicalballinrobe.org/topics/harry-clarke-stained-glass-windows/harry-clarke-stained-glass-windows-tour

This is a great year-round activity for tourists and locals alike. Also, a reminder that there are still some copies available of Averil Staunton's wonderful book on the Ballinrobe (plus Cong, Kilmaine & Roundfort) Harry Clarke windows. The books can be purchased locally from Martin Murphy, newsagent and jewellers, Cong Bookstore, Castle Bookstore and Ballintubber Abbey (and online via Amazon for those of you abroad).
