It was a lovely trip down memory lane at The Quiet Man Museum, Tours & Gift Shop induction as a Treasure of European Film Culture. The museum was one of South West Mayo Development Company CLG first LEADER funded projects many years ago. Auditors talk about value for money, well this project has paid for itself many, many times over! Congratulations to the Collins family and the wider Cong community for keeping the spirit of The Quiet Man alive and well.πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

Excitement is building across Mayo, and especially in Aughagower, ahead of Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney's visit this weekend. πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦πŸ’šβ€οΈ

RSS participants have been hard at work over recent weeks, playing an important role in preparing the village and supporting the local community as it gets ready to welcome this special visitor.

A huge well done to everyone involved. πŸ‘

Habits for Success 2026

We had a fantastic day at the McWilliam Park Hotel last Thursday for our annual Habits for Success event, delivered in partnership with Mayo, Sligo and Leitrim Education and Training Board (MSLETB) and South West Mayo Development Company.

Participants took part in two inspiring workshops facilitated by Tara Rafter , and mindfulness expert Maura Horkan , gaining practical tools to support personal and professional growth.

This week we marked a very special occasion in Aughagower as Joe Noonan celebrated his retirement after 21 years of dedicated service supporting Aughagower Tidy Towns.

Joe’s hard work, commitment, and contribution to the local community over the years have made a lasting impact, and we took this opportunity to thank him for everything he has done as he finished his final day with the RSS programme.

Pictured with Joe are RSS Supervisor Maura Murphy, Social Employment Coordinator Tony Hynes along with John & Kitty Foy from Aughagower Tidy Towns. Joe was presented with retirement gifts from SWMDC and Aughagower Tidy Towns to mark the occasion.

We wish Joe a long, happy, and healthy retirement and thank him sincerely for his many years of service to the community.
