National League Final 2026
The Monaghan County Ladies National League team competed in the National League Final at Morton Stadium, Santry, last Sunday. The event brought together the top county athletes from across Ireland, providing a highly competitive stage for some outstanding performances.
Among the highlights of the day was an emphatic victory for Georgia Wright in the 3000m. Georgia later returned to the track to claim an impressive 3rd place finish in the 800m. Other notable performances included Maeve Smith, who secured 2nd place in the Shot Put, Saorlaith Nic Cionna, who finished 2nd in the Discus, Eimear Clarke, who took 3rd place in the 100m Hurdles, and Leah Murphy, who claimed 3rd place in the Javelin.
Competing against the strongest county teams in the country, the Monaghan athletes delivered an excellent team performance to finish 5th overall, an achievement of which they can all be extremely proud.
A special thank you goes to Francis McKenna, who represented Monaghan as the county official for the event.
Well done to all athletes, coaches and supporters on a fantastic team performance.
