Today is and we are thankful for the opportunity to run a parenting class that stands with parents during trying times. Haiti is experiencing so many challenges and we are thankful to walk alongside those who are trying to keep their families together through these difficult times.

Taking a quick drive through the cane fields on our way to a community we have been working alongside. 🌾 Sugar cane is one of the DR’s biggest crops, and it’s the backdrop to some of our work here!

Business class spotlight 🔦 Meet Sherlie, a graduate of Konbit Haiti’s Small Business Training. Sherlie already ran a restaurant business, preparing meals and delivering them to customers, but delivery problems made the early days hard. Slow sales left her unable to replace what she’d lost, and she lay awake at night worrying about money she’d invested and couldn’t recover.

Discouragement set in, and she began asking herself painful questions: Should she give up? Should she find another way to support herself and her family?

Then she found Konbit Haiti’s business training, and it changed her life. She learned how to draw in more customers through marketing, manage her finances, and pay herself from her own business.

Today her business is at a different level. She and her team haven’t reached their destination yet, but they now have the knowledge and skills to keep growing in the direction they choose.🌾

We are continuing to work with these entrepreneurs, as well as adding more students as we can! Thank you for sewing into this business training 🇭🇹

We are so excited to begin a new program this fall, Hope Groups, in collaboration with World Without Orphans. Our crew translated all of the documents into Haitian Creole this summer and are starting this cohort to research the impact of this parenting class on Haitian refugee parents across Hispaniola. We are so excited to begin this program and ask for your continued prayers for financial provision, protection for our participants and leaders, as well as success for the program itself.

We have always been a group that works with Haitian people and alongside Haitian leaders. Every day, we see the strength and resilience of a people dealt hardship after hardship. Now we serve more displaced Haitians across the island of Hispaniola than ever before, and we are so thankful for the continued support we have from so many who know Haitian people are made in the image of God and who want to continue to partner with them as we walk forward together.
