That's part of what motivates the work we do in Haiti. Through education, meaningful work, and opportunities for families to provide for themselves, we want people to experience dignity and have the opportunity to use the gifts God has given them.

Looking for a simple, creative activity to do with your kids this month?

Try making paper beads! This craft is inspired by the paper bead-making used by artisans connected with The Apparent Project. It's an easy way to turn something you might normally throw away into something beautiful and to introduce your children to a little piece of Haiti along the way.

Here's how:

1️⃣ Cut long, skinny triangles from a cereal box
2️⃣ Roll each triangle tightly around a skewer or toothpick
3️⃣ Glue the end and coat the bead with glue
4️⃣ Let it dry on the stick
5️⃣ Turn your beads into a bracelet, bookmark, keychain, or whatever you can imagine!

Meet Our 3rd Grade Teacher

Behind our 3rd grade classroom is Ms. Johanne, a teacher who believes that learning is something to be shared.

Johanne says one of the reasons she wanted to work at The Apparent Project was the opportunity to learn more. She loves working with children because they help her understand more about them and how they learn.

She says, “Sharing knowledge with kids is one of the best things in life.”

Johanne is married and is a mom to a daughter. She also comes from a large family with three brothers and three sisters. She loves the beauty of Haiti's nature and dreams of one day running an orphanage so she can care for even more children.

This year, she has not only been teaching her students, she has also been learning alongside them, too.

We're grateful for teachers like Johanne who see education as a gift that goes both ways: sharing what they know while continuing to learn and grow themselves. 💙

💙 When Learning Comes Alive

Our 3rd grade classroom at The Apparent Project is a place where learning becomes personal.

One of the most meaningful things our teacher experiences is watching the children begin to see themselves in the lessons they are learning. They make connections between what they're being taught and their own lives, experiences, and ideas.

And when that happens, something special takes place.

The children don't just understand the lesson, they enjoy it. They become engaged and excited about learning, and their teacher gets to see the impact of all the work happening in the classroom.

Those moments are a beautiful reminder that education is about more than learning facts. It's about helping children discover, connect, and grow.

We're grateful for the teachers who make space for our students to think, wonder, and find joy in learning. 💙

Joy in Motion… and a Little Bit of Missing It!

It is summer break in Haiti, and The Apparent Project is much quieter than usual.

The buildings aren't filled with children's laughter. The classrooms are quiet. The yard isn't full of running feet and games.

And we miss it. 🥹

Everyday moments are what make The Apparent Project such a special place. It's not just a school... it's a place where children learn, build friendships, feel cared for, and simply get to be kids.

We're enjoying the slower pace of summer, but we're already looking forward to filling these spaces with children's voices again. 💙

Meet Our 2nd Grade Teacher

Our 2nd grade students are encouraged each day by Ms. Fabiola, a caring teacher who has been part of The Apparent Project for three years.

Fabiola lives with her parents, two brothers, and sister, and faithfully walks to school each day to teach her students. She loves the beauty of Haiti, especially the countryside with its mountains, rivers, and gardens. Some of her favorite memories are visiting the countryside with her family and seeing the hardworking elderly women who bring the fruits and vegetables they have grown to market.

Like many Haitians, Fabiola is concerned about the safety and stability of her country. She asks for prayer for God's protection as she looks forward to the future and prepares for marriage.

Every day, Fabiola invests in the lives of her students with patience, encouragement, and care. We're grateful for her faithful commitment to helping children learn and grow.

Thank you, Fabiola, for making a difference in the lives of Haiti's children. 💙

💙 Finding Their Voice

Our 2nd grade classroom at The Apparent Project is a place where students are encouraged to think, ask questions, and share their ideas.

One of the most meaningful things our teacher experienced during the past year was seeing how actively the children participate in class. They were eager to join discussions, ask thoughtful questions, and engage with each new lesson.

As the year went on, it was exciting to watch each student become more willing to raise a hand, contribute to conversations, and express what they were learning. Those moments showed not only academic growth, but also the confidence to use their voice.

Every question asked, every idea shared, and every lesson learned helps prepare these students for the future.

We're grateful for the teachers who create a classroom where every child is encouraged to learn, participate, and grow. 💙
