Our fifth grade classroom at The Apparent Project is full of growth, responsibility, and developing independence!

Right now, 5 students are learning and growing each day- strengthening their reading and writing, deepening their understanding across subjects, and building the skills they need to think critically and solve problems.

This is an important stage. These students are becoming more confident in their abilities, taking greater ownership of their learning, and beginning to think more clearly about their future.

Currently, we have 2 sponsors supporting this classroom, and we need more to continue providing the education, care, and encouragement these children deserve.

When you become a sponsor, you’ll get to follow along as these students grow, learn, and thrive... and you become part of their story.

Tracy is 10 years old and in fifth grade at The Apparent Project School.

She lives with her mother, younger brother, and extended family who help support their household. Her younger brother is also a student at AP in kindergarten, and they travel to school together each day.

Her mother works hard selling goods to provide for the family, and Tracy helps at home by cooking, cleaning, and running errands when needed.

At school, Tracy shines. Her teacher describes her as one of the strongest students in the class. She understands what is taught and consistently performs well in her studies.

Tracy dreams of becoming a doctor one day.

She also notices the care around her, sharing that she appreciates how the teachers at AP love and support all children, even those outside their own classroom.

Students like Tracy are growing in knowledge, responsibility, and hope for the future and your support helps make that possible.

In Haiti, kindergarten graduation is the most important graduation. 🌟

It represents survival, perseverance, and hope for the future. It is the first clear milestone that a child has made it through early education. A foundation has been laid and a new season is beginning.

At The Apparent Project School, these celebrations are full of joy and life- caps and gowns, bows and dresses, dancing, music, food, certificates, and a community gathered together to honor the children.

Recently, Pierre, the Director of The Apparent Project School in Haiti, shared what was on his heart for the school year.

His first answer wasn’t a list of needs.

He simply said:
“I’d like the school year to end well.”

When asked what that would look like, he said:
“I’d like the kindergarten graduation to be a blessing to parents, students, and teachers.”

Families contribute as they are able, and the school community helps ensure that every child is able to be celebrated well.

Pierre’s heart reflects something deeper: a desire to honor children, families, teachers, and the community he serves with faithfulness and care.

The answer is in! 🎉
How long does it take to make one piece of Haitian metal art?

D) Multiple days!

Turning a recycled oil barrel into stunning art takes time, strength, and incredible skill. Here's a peek into the process:

🔨 Step 1: Clean & Cut
The artist starts by cleaning the drum and cutting it open, flattening the steel into a large metal canvas. It’s tough work under the Haitian sun!

✏️ Step 2: Sketch the Design
Using chalk or pencil, the artist draws their vision freehand.

🪓 Step 3: Chisel & Hammer
Using handmade tools, they carefully chisel and hammer every detail... by hand.

🎨 Step 4: Add the Finishing Touches
Some pieces are painted, others polished - all are breathtaking.

Each artwork is a labor of love and a powerful picture of transformation.

Another part of our celebration of Agriculture and Labor Day last week at The Apparent Project was filled with color, joy, and community. 💛

Students dressed in yellow and brought fruit to share, celebrating the abundance of what grows in Haiti and the joy of being together.

Moments like this are a reminder of both gratitude and community. Even simple things become meaningful when shared.

Last week, students in Haiti celebrated Agriculture and Labor Day, a day that honors the work of hands that plant, build, and provide.

School was closed on Friday for the holiday, but students at The Apparent Project marked the occasion during the week by planting seeds together.

Through simple moments like these, students are learning that growth takes time, care, and patience; and that what is planted today can grow into something meaningful in the future.

We’re grateful for opportunities like this that connect learning with real life, and for the teachers who continue to invest in these students each day.
