We’re honoured to receive the ACES Community Initiative Award!

We put our heads down, did the work, loved each other, and kept going. From day one, KOMA has grown organically—our team found each other naturally, and the right projects seemed to find us. One thing led to another…, and here we are.

I never imagined KOMA would be seen, heard, and appreciated like this. So when the ACES Community Initiative Award nomination came—and then the win—I cried. I called the team. We laughed, we teared up again, and we held that moment like a shared heartbeat.

Thank you, ACES, for this honour. Most of all, thank you to our KOMA family—every volunteer, partner, donor, and friend; every parent and child who trusted us with their stories. Together, we’re reminding ourselves and each other that when love meets work, it becomes change.

A note from my heart: KOMA KARANTH is my father’s name. He was a fierce advocate for the underprivileged and a man of deep generosity, gone too soon at 40. His full name was Koni Mahabaleshwara Karanth—but he signed as KOMA KARANTH. I carry his name with pride and purpose. I hope we’ve made you proud, Dad.

Here’s to the next chapter—staying honest, staying kind, and keeping our hearts open to whatever comes next.
We will go to KL to receive the award on the 15th of October.

Recently, to encourage our families to care for their homes and surroundings, I asked our team and volunteers to involve families in creating small gardens outside their homes. We requested Rea Mabolo Melayo to lead our volunteers. Rea, being our KOMA home beneficiary herself, has put a lot of effort into her own beautiful garden and seemed perfect to lead this little adventure!

From among all the families who created their own little gardens, we chose two for special recognition:
a single mother, Rhona Marasigan and our latest home beneficiary, J-JJ-Mariz Jamilla Sadicon Reaño We gave them a 25kg bag of rice each.

These are simple gestures, but they matter. They say: your effort is seen, your home is valued, and you are part of this community.

This is not just about flowers and plants, but about pride and ownership. We will continue monitoring these gardens every 2 months and encouraging the families with a little recognition.

We've been hitting up different classrooms lately, running workshops on plastic pollution thanks to our partnership with Oceans Plastics. With summer break rolling around, we figured we'd switch things up and take the kids from our little school on a field trip. First stop? The local landfill—definitely an eye-opener for them. After that, we hung out in a nearby spot to chat about how trash messes with our environment and what we can actually do to cut back on it. The children also helped with a little clean up!

At the end of the day, we treated everyone to some good food from our KOMA food cart. Solid way to wrap up a pretty heavy but important day!

We finished KOMA 46. See how beautiful the houses look now. Our team has gotten better and better with each home, but also we have added more functional and pretty features to our homes!

We named this house after Roma Wadhwani Chandiramani one of our kindest most beautiful donors. Roma has been steadfast in her faith in us! Thank you Roma for all that you do ❤️

What a proud moment! Our sponsored scholar has graduated with a bachelor's degree in computer science cm laude and has already secured a job. Heartfelt thanks to our sponsors for making this possible.

Education truly transforms lives. We hope these young people will continue working hard to uplift their families and communities. There are no shortcuts to success—only dedication, patience and hard work!

Congratulations Missy Boncales... we at KOMA KARANTH FOUNDATION are very proud of you.

A single mother’s pain always hits home for me — I’ve seen my own mom go through it.
This single mom is one of our KOMA beneficiaries. She works extremely hard for her family. Every day she goes out to find odd jobs, no matter what the job is. She has five wonderful children, and together they have never eaten at a restaurant as a family. So we decided to change that.

We sent them out for a special family meal — their very first. They even asked my manager to join them because they didn’t know how to order food. That simple request alone broke my heart. They had such an incredible time — laughing, eating, and just being a family. The mother cried afterward, saying she was happy simply because her children were happy.

And since they had run out of rice at home, we bought them a bag of rice too. Sometimes, joy doesn’t come from big things — it’s in the care, the kindness, and a shared meal that feels like love.

Our KOMA cart beneficiary has been working hard running his food cart, and I figured the children would love enjoying his food — while he, in turn, gets some well‑deserved business. A total win‑win!

We treated 50 kids to a fun, yummy experience for just HKD 400 — the joy on their faces was priceless. This Sunday, we’ll be bringing the same treat to another 100 tribal children.

It feels amazing to bring a little joy to the kids and give our food cart owner—who continues to work courageously while on dialysis—some extra support in this tough economy

Two beautiful feeding events, two incredible sponsors 💙

Last Sunday, Preeti Sharma and her feeders group from DB and beyond came together to nourish our tribal families. Yesterday, Channi Matharu carried that same spirit forward with another generous sponsorship.

In today's Philippines—where prices are soaring and putting food on the table feels impossible for so many—these meals mean everything. Rice. Nutrients. Hope.

To our amazing staff and volunteers: thank you for hauling materials, cooking with love, and showing up for this community. None of this happens without you.

We celebrated Chinese New Year at KOMA by distributing rice to our labourers, teachers, and cooks. Sharing blessings is a wonderful way to celebrate any New Year. I hope we get to share our blessings all year through!

Oh special mention to the beautiful poster made by my 2 wonderful teachers. I told them this morning and they had it ready in an hour! These ladies are so resourceful and talented.
