At St Luke’s, we provide expert, compassionate palliative care not just for our patients, but for their families and loved ones too. Every £1 you donate makes a real difference — 85p goes directly towards patient care, while the remaining 15p helps us raise even more vital funds. After 21 incredible years, we have made the difficult decision that this year’s Midnight Walk will be the last one.

The decision has not been taken lightly but, with rising costs and participation levels changing, we need to ensure we maximise our fundraising efforts for patient care.

This event means so much to so many of us. It’s been a chance to come together, remember loved ones, share stories, and stand side by side in support of hospice care. Because of you - every walker, volunteer, supporter, and sponsor - we’ve raised over £2.5 million to care for local families when they need us most.

Now, we’re inviting our community to come together one last time for a truly special farewell. 💙

Join us on Saturday 27th June at Reaseheath College, Nantwich, for an unforgettable evening.

A huge thank you to everyone who has been part of the Midnight Walk journey over the past 21 years – and to Advanced Medical Solutions Group plc for their continued support as event sponsor.

Let’s make the final Midnight Walk the biggest and brightest yet!

Walk with us, remember loved ones, celebrate what this event has achieved, and help create one last unforgettable night. Sign up today: https://slhospice.co.uk/event/midnightwalk/

We’re thrilled to share that, for the first time, St Luke’s Hospice has been awarded funding from The Hospital Saturday Fund to support our dementia services.

Their generous contribution of £2,000 will help us continue delivering vital support to patients suffering with dementia and their carers’. This includes carer workshops, drop-in sessions, wellbeing therapies for patients, and home visits. Thanks to this funding, we’ll be able to make a meaningful difference to the lives of more than 185 people each year.

We’re incredibly grateful for their support in helping us care for those living with dementia and the people who support them 💙

Our Midnight Walk, creating moments of care through our Complementary Therapy đź’™

Did you know your Midnight Walk registration helps fund one hour of complementary therapy for someone who needs care, comfort and support?

One hour that can ease anxiety, manage pain, bring calm, or simply give someone a moment of peace when they need it most.

So why not be a part of something truly meaningful this year. The Midnight Walk isn’t just another event, it’s a shared journey with purpose, bringing our community together and helping us to provide vital care.💙

At 83, Therese Kielty is the very definition of dedication.

A long-standing supporter of St Luke’s Hospice, she has already completed an impressive series of challenges throughout her 80s - from climbing Snowdon to walking the Camino de Santiago, and taking on Ireland’s Mackoght and Errigal hikes.

Now, Therese is preparing for her fourth fundraising challenge, returning to the Camino to walk 100km over 7 days along the Sarria section of the famous pilgrimage route.

Speaking about her latest endeavour, Therese said:

“For the fourth year in a row, I am setting myself a challenge to raise money in memory of my beloved late husband, Peter. This year I will be walking the Camino de Santiago from Sarria - the Saint Francis route - covering 100km in 7 days. I hope you can help raise more funds for this amazing charity, which is so close to my heart.”

Everyone at St Luke’s Hospice wishes Therese the very best of luck. Her determination, resilience and unwavering support continue to inspire us all.

If you are able to, please support Therese on her journey by donating via her JustGiving page:

Our Supporter Stories – Midnight Walk 💜

Veronica has taken part in every single one of our Midnight Walks, and after this year, she’ll have completed an incredible 22 walks.
She shared her story with us:

“I am taking part in my 22nd Midnight Walk for St Luke’s Hospice, a charity that holds a very special place in my heart. I have always said that one day someone in my family might need their care.
In September 2024, my beautiful mum was diagnosed with liver cancer. St Luke’s provided reflexology sessions for her at home, and she would always say how much better she felt afterwards.
We only had eight weeks from diagnosis to her passing, but as a family, we will never forget the incredible care and support she received.
Here is a photo of me in my 2024 Midnight Walk T-shirt, and my mum celebrating her 88th birthday on 18th September. Sadly, she passed away on 8th November.”

Stories like Veronica’s remind us why the Midnight Walk means so much, and why so many people take part year after year.

We were incredibly proud to be represented by five inspiring supporters at this year’s Manchester Half Marathon, who together raised an outstanding £5,056.13!!

Adam O’Mara took on the challenge in memory of his beloved Nan, Vivien. After completing the race, Adam visited the Hospice with his mum and sister to personally drop off his donation.

Leah and Corey crossed the finish line side by side, with Leah showing remarkable determination to push through an injury. They ran in memory of Leah’s dad, Danny, who was cared for by St Luke’s. Here’s what she had to say: “I was never a runner, but my dad enjoyed it so much it pushed me to enjoy it. In September 2023 he ran the Cheshire half marathon just a month after he was diagnosed with oesophageal cancer. Again, this is for you!”

Ashton Leigh completed his run in memory of his Aunty Michelle, who was also cared for by the Hospice. Reflecting on his experience, he said: “I absolutely loved doing the half-marathon, I think I’ve caught the bug for it!”

Carys Fowles shared her honest and heartfelt account of race day: “It was hard work! I have to admit I'm not the most natural runner but I managed it in 2 hours 3 minutes which I was really chuffed with! It’s truly amazing what you all do (St Luke’s) and I was thinking of you all when I was at 18km and wanted to cry because I was so tired!”

Congratulations and thank you to each of our incredible runners. Your dedication, resilience, and commitment not only carried you across the finish line but also help ensure we can continue providing vital care to those who need it most in our community.💙👏
