Northwich Uke Club take on 36-Hour Uke Jam for Charity!

This September, Northwich Uke Club are taking on an extraordinary challenge to break the world record for the World's Longest Uke Jam.

The challenge begins at 8am on Saturday 26th September and will continue non-stop until 8pm on Sunday 27th September, with the team aiming to play continuously for an incredible 36 hours.

The current record, held by Southampton Uke Jam, stands at 30 hours.

The event is being held to raise vital funds for the Buddy and Befriending Scheme, run by Changing Lives Together, which supports adults across Cheshire experiencing loneliness and isolation.

🎵 Something special is happening this month 🎵

The Northwich Uke Club is hosting a JAM event on Saturday 26th & Sunday 27th September, and they're raising money for our amazing Buddy & Befriending in Cheshire

Music is a powerful and beautiful thing. It reaches people in ways that words sometimes can't. We've seen it firsthand in our warm welcome groups - when the music starts, people light up. Barriers come down. Shy people find their voice. People feel connected. We often get everyone up and dancing, and in those moments, you see real magic happen.

That's why the Northwich Uke Club choosing us as their charity means the world to us. They understand that connection, real, joyful, human connection is what saves lives.

International Day of Charity 💚

Today we celebrate the power of charity, not just organisations, but the spirit of generosity, compassion, and people choosing to show up for one another.

At Changing Lives Together, charity looks like this:
It's the volunteer who spends their Thursday afternoon making sure no one sits alone.
It's the person who drives around Cheshire to rescue food, knowing their choice feeds families with dignity.
It's the furniture that finds a second home, carrying someone's memories into a new chapter.
It's the conversation that changes someone's life. The connection that reminds someone they matter.

Charity isn't grand gestures. It's showing up, again and again, because we believe that every single person deserves to be cared for. Every person deserves dignity, connection, and a place in their community.

To everyone who's part of this - our incredible volunteers, our supporters, our customers, our team - thank you for choosing us and helping us make a difference. Thank you for believing that together, we can change lives. 💚

The ReUse Warehouse Crewe, Very Green Grocery Northwich The Winsford Community Hub Buddy & Befriending in Cheshire Your Bus

A lot of people think we're a foodbank (Very Green Grocery Northwich, The Winsford Community Hub and The ReUse Warehouse Crewe) and honestly, we understand. We both help people access food. But the thing is we're quite different!

Today is about recognising the incredible work that foodbanks do. A huge shout out to Mid Cheshire Foodbank, who we work closely with and do such a fantastic job supporting people in crisis. They're essential. 💚

But our community groceries, we're different. We're open to everyone. No referral needed, no crisis required. You could be someone who really needs the support. You could be someone who wants to save money. You could be passionate about stopping food waste. Or you could just be curious about what we do. We don't ask, we just welcome you.

We work WITH foodbanks (people can use their tokens at our shops), we're offering a different kind of support.

Happy National Foodbank Day 🍽!

Today we are celebrating the hard work and dedication that the foodbank provide all over the country 🎉 You may not know this, but we work really closely with Mid Cheshire Foodbank and those tokens that yourself or someone you may know has received in the past, you can use at our shop!

You may be wondering, what is the difference between us and the foodbank?🤔

The foodbank is a service that people in food poverty have to be referred to use through other services such as the Citizens Advice Bureau.

We are a community grocery that is open to anyone no matter what and our service costs an £8 donation where you walk away with approximately £35 worth of food 🤯

If you would like to try us out, our grocery opening times are;
- Mondays 3.00pm until 6.00pm
- Wednesdays 1.00pm until 4.00pm
- Fridays 9.30am until 12.30pm
