Weybridge Men's Shed

Weybridge Men's Shed What is a Men's Shed? They're community spaces for men to connect, converse and create.

Weybridge Men's Shed is a place for members of the Weybridge Community to come pursue practical interests and hobbies like woodworking, and learn new skills in the company of like-minded people. The activities are often similar to those of garden sheds, but for groups of men to enjoy together. They help reduce loneliness and isolation, but most importantly, they’re fun. Members decide when they co

me and what they do and enjoy learning from each other. Our purpose is to encourage social connections and friendships building, networking, banter, lots of laughter and plenty of tea and coffee. Although its free to attend, the activities are substantially funded by member donations and any items we make that are offered for sale. The Weybridge Men's Shed is well equipped with woodworking and other hand tools for members to use on both community projects and their own projects. Our Shed will is an open and friendly place for people who want more social connection, who may be living alone and at the same time learn and share skills, trades and interests informally. How can you improve your mental health?

✔️ Exercise
✔️ Engaging in peer support networks
✔️ Having a sense of purpose and belonging

That last point is where the Weybridge Men's Shed comes in.

The Shed offers much more than practical projects. It provides friendship, support, shared experiences and a welcoming space where conversations happen naturally.

This video shows a typical Shed session.

Lots of activity, plenty of chat, new skills being learned and friendships being built.

Sometimes, improving mental health starts with simply turning up and being part of something.

The Shed just received a donation of a whole crate of vintage shoe lasts. 🪵👞

For those who don't know, cobblers used these wooden foot-shapes to mold and make shoes back in the day. But since we aren't planning on starting a Men’s Shed line of Italian leather loafers anytime soon... we need your ideas!

What can we repurpose these into? 💡

👞 Doorstops?
👞 Quirky coat hooks or hat racks?
👞 Bookends for the workshop library?
👞 Unique table lamps or bookends?

Drop your most creative upcycling ideas in the comments below;.

Let's see who can put their best foot forward on this one! 😉👇

We are always overwhelmed by the support we receive from our local community ❤️

A few weeks ago, we posted on Facebook that the refrigerator in our shed had stopped working.

After just one post, a very generous community supporter got in touch and said he had a spare fridge in his garage looking for a new home. 🙌

We collected it, installed it, and everyone is delighted that cold milk is once again waiting for us when we enjoy our coffee, tea and cake after a busy day! ☕🍰

A huge thank you for your kindness and generosity. It is support like this that keeps our Shed going and reminds us what a wonderful community we are part of. 😊

Thank you so much!
