June is my birthday month. I tend to stretch celebrations as far as I can throughout the month, because we prioritise joy around here πŸ˜„πŸ₯³

I was gifted this gorgeous book, A Year in Nature by Lia Leendertz and not only does it perfectly fit into my library but I can't get over how beautifully illustrated it is... New tattoo inspiration for sure πŸ˜„

The majority of people are walking around without a thought about their digital legacy; what it actually is and how to plan for it all to be handled when they die.

The reality that we are now living in is a complicated one. For many of us, our entire lives are managed through our phones.

There are a lot of layers to our digital presence and what happens when we are no longer here to close accounts and give people access to the things they will need and want to have access to in our absence.

It's a topic begging to be explored, but understandably, it feels overwhelming and complicated and it's hard to find answers to our questions all in one place.

So, I have done some research and have written an explanatory article to give an overview and a structure to what you might want to consider.

Even if you take no action, just reading this article will provide you with some useful insight. That's the goal anyway.

Find it here: https://www.thismortallife.co.uk/blog/digital-legacy

I welcome your questions and feedback and hope you find it useful πŸ™πŸ’€πŸŒΏβœ¨

There are so many fun and interesting offerings this week across the community but if you find yourself at a loose end tomorrow evening, join me for a casual, no fuss picnic in Ellenborough Park west by the big magical tree (apparently also known as a Monterey Pine?) from 6pm. Thursday 18th June is International Picnic Day and the weather is going to be perfect for it 😁🌿✨

Just bring whatever you need to enjoy a summer's evening in the park.

From a facilitator's perspective, our first Dead Curious event on Sunday really couldn't have gone any better. People were engaged, open, sharing stories and perspectives and all contributed towards a really lovely warm, collaborative afternoon of exploration and reflection.

The aim for these events is to provide an intentional space for thinking about some of the life admin things we often put off because they just feel overwhelming, or far away or simply out of scope of our current capacity. All valid and understandable. But for some of us, we still feel drawn to learning more about the why's and how's of planning for the unknown of our futures. And reflecting on what we really care about...what are my priorities for my future self and those I love?

Can we reduce anxiety and live a little more joyfully in the here and now by thinking ahead? I believe so. And even more, I think it can be an interesting, inspiring and creative journey to take.

And I think those who attended our session would agree...

Here's the feedback left when asking attendees to leave three words to describe their experience of the Dead Curious session.

"Open, honest, amazing"

"Friendly, honest, heart-warming"

"Freeing, contemplative, thought-provoking"

"Open, respectful, interesting"

"Fun, challenging, helpful"

"Informative, cosy, challenging"

"Welcoming, difficult, fun...and grown-up!"

Thank you to everyone who came along and helped create such a lovely experience for us all.

If you think you might be curious enough to join us for our next session, you can register at the link below πŸ‘‡ to attend on Sunday 12th July 3-5pm at the brilliant

Looking forward to next time if you’ll have me!"

Yup, we'll definitely have you again!

Reflections on last night's first Craft and Chat drop in at Weston Artspace working on our community art project called 52 Meditations on Mortality.

There were 15 of us, so a bit of a tight fit, but we made it work and managed to get space around the table for everyone who arrived.

Some were inspired straight away, and got to work pretty quickly whilst others wrestled with ideas and took time exploring different techniques and resources.

I offered the option of choosing a prompt card from the Memento Mori decks for further reflection. Some really poignant memories and stories were shared and it was beautiful to see that we created a space that held it all. Several people were inspired to write poetry alongside their cards, which will be a wonderful addition to the project and exhibit in October.

The finished pieces are all exceptionally brilliant and diverse in approaches and themes, and I am so excited to see how our following sessions unfold and what will come from them.

Thank you to everyone who joined us, you're all fabulous! And for those who weren't able to make it, no worries, we will hold a seat for you at the next one! Join us on Thursday 9th July from 6pm πŸ’€πŸŒΏβœ¨
