🧵 Skills, sewing & making a difference!

Last Thursday and Friday, the Tubombele Pamo Women’s Group, under Girl Impact, got together for some very special training: learning how to sew reusable sanitary pads with the amazing women from .

And this is just the beginning!

One of the programs we’ll be undertaking at the Youth Community Centre is producing reusable sanitary pads to reach more vulnerable girls and help tackle period poverty across both urban and rural communities in Livingstone.

By learning how to make the pads themselves, these women are gaining practical sewing skills while creating something that can have a real and lasting impact on girls in their communities. 🌍

It’s about more than sewing, it’s about women teaching women, sharing skills, creating opportunities, and helping girls stay confident and in school.

We can’t wait to see what the Tubombele Pamo Women’s Group creates with their new skills! 🧵

P.S. There’s more to come! 👀This is all part of a much bigger project we’re working on with , and we’ll be sharing more very soon. Stay tuned!

🎨 A little paint, a lot of progress

Things are really starting to come together at the Community Center!

Huge thank you to the African Impact - Livingstone Community Projects volunteers for getting stuck in and helping us get the floors painted and this space one step closer to opening its doors.

After all the planning, building, fundraising and many updates, it’s so exciting to see the finish line getting closer! 🏡

Soon, these freshly painted floors will be filled with laughter, learning, creativity and community and we absolutely cannot wait.

One paintbrush at a time… we’re getting there! 🎨

Happy Friday from Zambia 💙

As winter settles in and Term 2 gets underway, we love seeing our students wrapped up in their new school jerseys and heading back to class feeling warm and confident.

Education is so much more than school fees, sometimes it’s the practical things that help children learn, participate, and enjoy being at school.

And a little note for our amazing sponsors 👀 — keep an eye on your inbox during July… your Mid-Year Impact Report is coming soon, and we can’t wait to share updates, stories, and all the progress your support is making possible.

Have a wonderful weekend!

❄️ Winter mornings have arrived in Zambia… and our students are heading into Term 2 nice and warm!

This month, children in our Sponsor an Education programme received their school jerseys, helping them stay warm, comfortable, and ready to focus on what matters most: learning.

It might seem like a small thing, but warm school wear can make a big difference to confidence, comfort, and showing up each day ready to thrive.

Thank you to everyone who makes moments like these possible — your support goes far beyond the classroom 📚

What happens when school closes?

For many vulnerable young people, free time can quickly become lost time.

But thanks to supporters like you, we’re helping rewrite that story.

Our new youth center will turn school holidays into a season of growth, connection, and opportunity through mentorship sessions, peer support circles, leadership activities, and safe spaces to simply be young.

One parent put it best:
"Idle time can lead children into negative influences, but when you give them a safe space, guidance, and opportunities to explore their talents, everything changes."

And the impact doesn’t stop there.

Older youth in the program are already stepping into leadership roles, mentoring younger children and creating a ripple effect of confidence, belonging, and community.

Sometimes the greatest lessons happen when school is out.

Thank you for helping create a future where every holiday holds hope. ✨

School holidays should feel full of possibility.

But for many young people in our sponsorship programs, school breaks can mean long days with little structure, limited opportunities, and increased exposure to negative influences.

That’s why the youth center currently under construction matters so much.

Soon, it will be filled with laughter, mentorship, creativity, and structured holiday activities designed to keep young minds active, inspired, and connected.

As 17-year-old Agness shared:
"The holidays usually feel endless and uneventful, but they will no longer be boring and will be packed with exciting activities that I am very excited about."

Because your support goes beyond school fees.

You’re helping create a safe space where young people can discover their talents, build confidence, and be reminded that their circumstances do not define their future.

This is hope being built, brick by brick. 💛

🏠 The Youth Community Centre is slowly coming to life and we wanted to share the vision behind it as we get ready to start running programmes this year.

One of the key focuses will be sexual and reproductive health and rights. In many communities, these conversations are often avoided, but this will be a safe space where young people can openly learn, ask questions, and talk honestly about their bodies, their rights, and their responsibilities.

We want to help break myths, reduce stigma, and replace silence with knowledge — because knowledge is protection, and empowerment.

But beyond the programmes, what matters most is the experience young people will have when they walk through the doors. ⭐

A space where they are seen, heard, and valued. A space where they feel like they belong.

Because youth centres don’t just run activities — they build confidence, leadership, and futures. They strengthen mental wellbeing and relationships, and create a stronger connection between young people and their communities.

This is the impact we’re building towards — and we can’t wait to begin.
