Canals are an important part of n Semington's history.
Today we welcomed volunteers from Wilts & Berks Canal Trust and Kennet and Avon Canal Trust celebrating KA75 - The Kennet & Avon Canal Trust 75th Anniversary.
The junction of the kennet and Avon with the wilts and berks canal is just yards from pub. Not so long ago the K&A was derelict, but is now thriving and busy. The planned melksham link canal at this end of the W&B will be a great addition to the local waterway network.
Pubs and canals have gone hand in hand since the first Navvies got thirsty whilst digging them in the 19th century.
It will be wonderful to welcome canal users once again to the The Somerset Arms

As of 12th June, 249 people have made a pledge, raising an amazing £194,710 towards bringing our community hub back to life! 🙌

We’re so grateful for the support, encouragement, and belief we’ve received from everyone who has got behind the campaign so far. Every pledge brings us one step closer, but we’re still working hard and need your help to keep the momentum going.

With our new deadline of 1st August, there are just 7 weeks left to make or update your pledge and show the current owners just how much this place means to our community.

Pledges start from £250 for over 18s and £100 for 16–18 year olds. You don’t need to pay anything just yet - this stage is about making a realistic commitment so we can understand the strength of support before we begin discussions with the current owners. Once we secure an offer, we’ll come back to you with the next steps.
