πŸ“š Book Face Friday πŸ“š

This weeks Book Face Friday Death Visits January can be found in our Monthly Masterpieces collection at Ormiston library.

When a supposed ancient bog body is discovered, journalist January Quail soon uncovers a far more chilling truth - It's a recent murder, and the killer may still be watching.

memorable read that blends emotion, reflection, and powerful story telling. A quirky heroine, an atmospheric Irish setting, and plenty of twists makes this a mystery that stays with you long after the final page.

One of Tranent Libraries customers has chosen Otto The Top Dog by Catherine Rayner as our Book Face Friday Post πŸ“šπŸΎ

This beautifully illustrated book is part of our Scottish East Lothian Reads collection. Otto is a kind-hearted sausage dog who loves many things, but most of all his cosy basket - until he starts sharing it with more and more dogs and ends up squeezed out himself.

A warm and funny picture book about kindness, friendship and boundaries. have you met Otto yet?

Music has a unique way of taking us somewhere else β€” back to a moment, a person, a feeling. A few notes can unlock memories we didn’t even realise we were holding onto.

Our team playlist was inspired by the wonderful work of Playlist for Life, which celebrates how personally meaningful songs can support memory, connection and wellbeing. πŸ’œ

Research shows that music is closely linked to memory and emotion, often bringing back vivid moments from our lives in an instant β€” a bit like revisiting a favourite story or book.

In libraries, we see this every day: stories, like songs, help us connect, reflect and remember. Both invite us into different worlds β€” and back into our own.

🎧 This is the soundtrack of our team development day β€” a mix of joy, nostalgia and energy.

πŸ‘‰ What song always takes you back?
πŸ‘‰ What track would be on your life playlist?

Share your favourites in the comments β€” and be inspired to find something new or an old favourite from someone else.
