New opportunity with horses now arises at the barn:

We are located between Royal Wootton Basset and Lyneham, Wiltshire.

Time changes all things and there is a constant ebb and flow about the barn, including changes of situation with our star support team here.

So we have a gap for a brave adventurer looking for time with horses and various four legged beings. Are you looking to get back to horses or maybe find a new way to engage with the world, this is not your usual yard, it is a community of people and animals.

We don’t have stables we have a free herd of 14 horses and an amazing group of people and horses that blend together for enrichment, growth and community.

If you would like to experience something we consider unique, fun and life enriching, perhaps you would like to come and see us.

There is no money involved either way, it is a free experience and we endeavour to provide a way for you to spend time and perhaps fulfil a dream or two.

The morning unfolds with the necessary stuff, feeding and caring for animals and this leads when weather permits to an indulgent time for us to be with horses in whatever form that makes us happy.

I can honestly say that our bunch of around 15 owners and helpers has created a very safe and lovely place. We nurture kindness and inclusivity and it is a very happy and calm place to be.

So if you have a car, can comit reliably to one morning a week from around 9am until 1pm (weekends are pretty full but don’t let that put you off having a conversation with us) get in touch.

I am sure you won’t regret it but if you come and it’s not for you, there is still a coffee and a chat to be had without expectations.

Things that you would need to know:

Our horses are insured for third party but we always encourage our helpers to get a basic personal insurance, especially if they want to ride, it only costs a few pounds a month.

We do not allow smoking at the barn for obvious reasons, hay is super combustible.

This is not really a place for children, not because it’s unsafe generally (our horses are super chilled) but we choose it to be a child free zone where possible, school holidays can be an exception of course. The place is for your indulgence not your family.

The job has physical elements to it therefore you need to be fit and mobile.

We have welcomed autumn at the barn this year? Summer was really tough for us mostly but the horses too!
It was too hot to be productive, hard to trim hooves and care generally for horses, riding was not great with heat and flies and sweat.
My favourite time is now, autumn when the days cool and the horses get fluffy and life is softer and slower.
Yes they look muddy and unkempt now but you know, they don’t and never have cared, they are comfortable and happy and living in the moment, a lesson for us all!

Summer is at an end, we can honestly say that we are not sad to see this one go. Heat, flies and hard ground have all been challenging but autumn is bringing woolly coats and cooler days at last.
