The Tiptree Garden Club

28/09/2026

Here in Tiptree we are blessed with an abundance of Birds of Prey. Have you ever looked up and wondered if that's a Buzzard or a Red Kite? It's easy if you know how but if you want to learn more why not come along to Tiptree Garden Club this Thursday 1st October when Stephanie Callister-Jarrod will be talking about "Birds of Prey".
Last year, Stephanie gave a talk on Owls which was most enjoyable so we invited her back. The meeting is at St Luke's extension and starts at 7.30pn.
Admission is £4 for members & £5 for visitors. If you would like to join our club, that is also the night for membership renewals and costs £5 for the year.
There will be refreshments, a raffle and Stephanie will have items for sale on a cash only basis.
Why not come along where a warm welcome awaits you.

So, a question to all you gardeners out there, what sort of summer has it been for you? With at least 5 official heat waves and a hosepipe ban has it been a difficult year for you? If, as I suspect it has, spare a thought for those frustrated souls who have grown flowers, fruit or veg for Tiptree Garden Club's Autumn Show which will be held next Saturday 5th September at Thurstable School. Personally speaking, my tomatoes and plums are finished but I'm sure that there are others out there who have fared better (and don't even get me started on runner beans). If you want to see how others have coped why not pop along and have a look. Doors open at 2 pm and as well as flowers, fruit & veg there will be exhibits of cooking, handicrafts, floral art and photography. There will also be a superb raffle (with nearly £200 worth of prizes), a white raffle, tombola and refreshments in the dining hall where there will also be various stalls. Admission is £1.50 and, like you, I have no idea what sort of show to expect. We hope to see you there.

Well according to Google, rewilding is "Restoring nature's remarkable web of life, including Habitats, Nature's processes and where applicable Missing species. If you would like to know more and how it affects your garden then come along to St Luke's extension this Thursday evening 6th August at 7.30 pm where Tiptree Garden Club will have Alex Stevenson who will tell you more and talk about Rewilding at Jordan's farm.. Admission is £3 for members & £4 for visitors. There are refreshments and a raffle. We have to vacate the hall by 9.30 pm so it should still be light when we leave. We look forward to seeing you where a warm welcome awaits you.
