⭐️Client Feedback⭐️

'I recently attended a driving assessment for a close family member living with Alzheimer's.

Although the assessment concluded that it was no longer safe for her to continue driving, we were treated with professionalism, sensitivity and respect throughout.

The assessors took the time to explain everything clearly and treated our relative with dignity, making what could have been a very difficult and emotional experience much easier for her and the whole family.

We are extremely grateful for the kindness and support provided by the assessors and would highly recommend East Anglian DriveAbility to anyone who is worried about their own, or a family member's driving.'

🔵We are grateful for your kind words and pleased that our team was able to support your family through what was undoubtedly a difficult process. Helping people maintain their safety and independence, whether that mean continuing to drive or exploring alternative transport options, is at the heart of what we do.

Thank you for placing your trust in us💙

⭐ Client Story ⭐

We were delighted to support Carey who attended East Anglian DriveAbility following a diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis (MS).

After completing an assessment and receiving tailored driving tuition, she kindly shared her experience with us:

"18 months ago my right leg went stiff and then I woke up not being able to move it at all. The movement came back but I no longer had the same control or sensation and neuralgia symptoms spread quickly to both feet. I immediately lost my independence and a big part of what made me, well, me.

For almost 9 months I had no diagnosis but when it finally came, Progressive MS, I had to face the fact that I needed to find a new way of living. I got a mobility scooter, then sourced a car it could go into, and then contacted East Anglian Driveability to sort out how I could drive the car myself.

Right from the first moment the staff were a great help, the lady on the phone explained my options and I applied to Mobility services to fund my initial assessment.
When the day came I was very nervous, regaining my independence was a big deal to me, I was navigating grief at the loss of the life I had lived and my mental health was low, what if they said I couldn’t do anything? Again the staff were brilliant. The two ladies, Jo and Dani, who took me through my initial assessment were supportive, straight forward and calm, they explained exactly what adaptations I would need (hand controls) and went through options for lessons, booking me in there and then for a short course before my final assessment.

I turned up for my first lesson, still very apprehensive, I had no idea how it would feel to drive in a whole new way, and after an 18 month break I was nervous about heading out into traffic.
Then I met Aneta, what can I say, what an inspiring lady! Aneta put me at ease, she totally got me, she encouraged me to push myself whilst also reassuring me of my safety at all times with L plates and dual controls. She encouraged my plans for what I would be able to do again once I mastered the driving and taught me calmly and carefully until driving started to feel, not only possible, but natural, as if I had never driven any other way.

With Aneta’s support I went for my final assessment with more confidence and again was put totally at ease by the two assessors, Nicky and Paul, who seemed as pleased as I was when they were able to give me the all clear.

A lot of people have helped me on my way to learning a new way of living and East Anglian Driveability certainly have done their part, I think of them when I drive to the coast with my dog or collect my grandchildren from school. I can’t thank them enough.
Carey"

🚗Returning to driving after an illness, injury, or medical diagnosis can feel overwhelming — but you don’t have to navigate it alone.

At East Anglian DriveAbility, we provide supportive, professional driving assessments to help people understand their options and drive safely with confidence.

Our assessments are designed to support individuals living with conditions such as stroke, Parkinson’s, multiple sclerosis, arthritis, limb loss, neurological conditions, and more. We look at how a condition may affect driving and whether vehicle adaptations or specialist equipment could help.

For many people, a driving assessment offers reassurance, renewed independence, and practical next steps.

If you or a loved one would like advice about driving safely after a change in health, our friendly team is here to help 💙

🌟 Thank you Chris for your wonderful feedback following your recent assessment. I am sure your words will be encouraging to future clients 🌟

Chris's full words:
"I have had the pleasure of being examined by EAD on a couple of occasions (most recently on April the 22nd) due to my 'mild' dementia diagnosis in 2021and have found the whole experience to be very professionally run with particular emphasis on making the client driver relaxed and comfortable.

I have enjoyed my sessions in terms of being tested but also the fact that it is actually a bit of a wake-up call for those of us who think we are 'good' drivers! The first couple miles can be a bit stressful but the instructions on where to go are clear and pretty soon you can relax and just enjoy the experience. At the end of the session there is a very well conducted and useful analysis of how things went.

I spent many years driving a variety of vehicles in different countries and it seems to me that maybe everybody should revisit their driving tests now and then!

I cannot recommend EAD too highly'

🌟Congratulations Pennie!🌟
We are very proud of our ADI Pennie Alexander who has had her very own book published.
Anyone who knows Pennie will know her passion for road safety and her love of teaching.
Her own Driving School is Dare2 Drive and her new book is Dare 2 Do It ; Be a Driving Instructor.

From the foreword of her book Pennie tells everyone that she became a qualified ADI in 2014 and a member of the Institute of Master Tutors of Driving in 2025.
She delivers training to learners and trainee driving instructors as well as working full time for EAD. Where does she find the time?

Pennie says " I decided to write this book as I hear so many people taking the wrong path when wanting to train as driving instructors and finding themselves struggling to know what to do within the role. I'm hoping this book will help those who wish to embark on the road to becoming a driving instructor have more insight into what the job entails."

It's been a labour of love which started back in 2018 with many edits as she learnt more and more about the industry she loves and works in. If you are interested you can find the book on Amazon https://amzn.eu/d/089Z6SKS

Congratulations Pennie . She Who Dares Wins!
